Lawyer, collector, and museum curator Halûk Perk, who made a significant impact on Turkey's cultural and scientific life, has passed away.
Perk's funeral will be held on Monday, January 20, after the afternoon prayer at Kuba Mosque.
WHO IS HALUK PERK?
Born in Istanbul in 1958, Halûk Perk graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and then pursued a master's degree at Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences. In 1999, Perk founded the Association of Archaeological Artifact Collectors and served as its president. In 2002, he obtained permission from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to open a private museum in his name, establishing the Halûk Perk Museum. Not only did Perk collect artifacts, but he also published books, organized exhibitions, and opened museums, providing significant services to his country through his contributions to the protection of cultural heritage and the scientific community.
HE AUTHORED 48 WORKS
Halûk Perk authored 48 works, including special studies such as "Trade Weights and Measuring Instruments in Anatolia," "History of Health Education with Visuals and Documents," and "History of Dentistry with Documents and Objects," and he has written numerous noteworthy articles. He also played a pioneering role in the establishment of Turkey's first "Maritime Trade Museum" in collaboration with Kuşadası Municipality. Additionally, he made significant contributions to the "Silent Witnesses from Neolithic to Seljuk" exhibitions at Dokuz Eylul University "Flag Studies and Turkish Flags Museum" and Rezan Has Museum with rare pieces from his collection. Through the countless projects he developed, he strived to raise awareness in his country about museology and collecting.
