As heavy torrential rain in Istanbul brought life to a standstill, citizens rushing to public transport after work experienced a nightmare. On many metro lines, there was no room left to step. The crowd of pedestrians that formed on the stairs at the Zincirlikuyu metrobus stop was captured by a mobile phone camera. It was seen that citizens waited for a long time on the stairs.
Heavy downpours that intensified in Istanbul negatively affected transportation across the city during the evening hours. Due to the rainfall, road traffic came to a standstill, while citizens trying to get home at rush hour headed for public transportation. On many metro and Metrobus lines, there was no room left to step.
