Liverpool's journey to Istanbul has begun, as they will visit Fenerbahçe tomorrow in the 4th week of the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool, who will face Fenerbahçe in matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League, has begun its journey to Istanbul for the critical match. The English team will be the guest of the yellow-and-navy side in Kadıköy on Wednesday, November 4. Liverpool, who has not achieved the desired results in the Premier League in recent weeks, aims to continue its winning streak in Europe against Fenerbahçe as well.
COMING TO ISTANBUL AFTER ARSENAL DEFEAT
In its last official match before the Fenerbahçe game, Liverpool lost 1-0 to Arsenal at home. The English representative, who left the field without points due to Kai Havertz's goal, failed to register a shot on target despite taking 17 shots throughout the match. Liverpool, which has collected 15 points in the 9 weeks played so far in the Premier League, sits in 6th place, while the point gap between it and the leader has risen to 9.
IRAOLA REACTS TO REFEREE'S DECISION
Following the Arsenal match, Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola criticized the failure to award a penalty for the incident Alexander Isak experienced in the penalty area.
Iraola said, "Alex (Isak) was right in front of his opponent and was about to head the ball. However, he could not do so because his shirt was pulled. If he had thrown himself to the ground, a penalty would have been awarded 100 percent. To be honest, we should tell players to throw themselves to the ground! Otherwise, they do not call penalties."
MADE IT THREE WINS OUT OF THREE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Despite dropping points in the Premier League, Liverpool delivered a successful performance in the Champions League. The English team won all of its first three matches in the competition. Liverpool, which defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1, LASK Linz 6-3 away, and Villarreal 4-3, reached 9 points. The English representative wants to continue its streak in Europe by also winning against Fenerbahçe in Kadıköy.
THEY WILL MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME IN KADIKÖY
Fenerbahçe and Liverpool will face each other for the first time in European competitions. Chobani Stadium will host the match, which will start at 20:45 on Wednesday, November 4. French referee Clement Turpin will officiate the match.
