Dalloz Creations, the manufacturer of the lenses for the sunglasses worn by French President Emmanuel Macron in Davos, has gone bankrupt. It was stated that the company could not overcome financial difficulties and has ceased operations.
Dalloz Creations, an eyeglass lens manufacturer operating in Saint-Claude in the Jura region of France, has ceased its activities due to financial difficulties. The Lons-le-Saunier Commercial Court decided to liquidate the company, leaving 29 employees unemployed.
It was stated that the company's commercial assets, which have a 69-year history, have been put up for sale and no rescue plan could be found for the company.
CAME TO THE AGENDA WITH MACRON'S GLASSES
Dalloz Creations' name came back to the agenda in January during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. It was revealed that the lenses of the approximately 650-euro blue-tinted sunglasses used by French President Emmanuel Macron were manufactured by the company, drawing international attention to the firm. However, this publicity and visibility were not enough to overcome the company's financial troubles.
INSOLVENCY CRISIS COULD NOT BE OVERCOME
According to court records, the date the company fell into insolvency was recorded as March 20, 2026. Rescue attempts carried out for the company, which could not sustain its operations due to increasing financial pressures, yielded no results.
Thus, another of France's longstanding eyeglass lens manufacturers has ceased its operations.
