In Istanbul, 128 people were detained in operations targeting organized crime gangs. A large number of weapons, ammunition, and stolen vehicles were seized. The police department announced that it will continue to fight against crime with determination.
The teams of the Organized Crime Fighting Branch of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department have initiated work to capture individuals connected to criminal networks involved in local and international activities, and after technical and physical surveillance conducted within the framework of the ongoing investigation, they pressed the button for the operation.
In the operations carried out, it was determined that they had been working together for a long time with the criminal organization led by Barış Boyun, who is wanted with a 'red notice' and is currently imprisoned in Italy, but due to internal disagreements within the group, they separated from the 'Daltonlar' gang led by Berat Can Gökdemir, who is currently in custody in Russia.
'AMMUNITION' SEIZED
In the operation, a total of 42 people, including 2 lawyers from Barış Boyun's gang, were detained, identified as being involved in 17 different incidents across Istanbul. A large number of weapons, ammunition, stolen vehicles, stolen motorcycles, motorcycle helmets, and ballistic vests were seized.
Additionally, between February 1-14, operations were conducted against individuals propagating criminal organizations on social media in the districts of Çekmeköy, Sancaktepe, Kadıköy, Beykoz, Esenyurt, Sultangazi, Bağcılar, Beykoz, Ataşehir, Büyükçekmece, Pendik, Bahçelievler, Beyoğlu, Avcılar, Ataşehir, and Ümraniye. In February, 86 suspects involved in 32 different actions were captured and detained in various operations.
A TOTAL OF 128 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY
With this morning's operation, the number of detainees reached 128. In all operations, searches conducted at addresses resulted in the seizure of 21 unlicensed handguns, 2 AK-47 rifles, 2 automatic pistols, 1 shotgun, 1,207 various-sized cartridges, 27 magazines, and a pistol mechanism, as well as 12 drug pills. Additionally, stolen vehicles, stolen motorcycles, motorcycle helmets, and ballistic vests used in the actions were also seized during the operations.
54 PEOPLE ARRESTED
Those detained in the operations whose procedures have been completed were referred to the courthouse. Among those referred to the courthouse, 7 were released under judicial control while 54 were arrested. The procedures for 67 suspects are still ongoing at the police station.
