Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Lawyer Nadi Turkaslan announced that they will request that their two separate criminal complaints against Melih Gokcek and his relatives be merged with the investigation initiated ex officio. Turkaslan, stating that their aim is to prove that municipal resources were obtained through illegal means, said he anticipates that the three files will be conducted together for the integrity of evidence and to clarify the scheme.
Lawyer Nadi Türkaslan of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) announced that he will apply to merge the two separate criminal complaints they filed against Melih Gökçek and his relatives with the investigation initiated ex officio by the prosecutor's office. Türkaslan said they expect the three files to be conducted under a single umbrella for the sake of evidence integrity.
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality filed a comprehensive criminal complaint against former ABB President İbrahim Melih Gökçek on August 7, 2026, with the Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau. ABB Lawyer Nadi Türkaslan, who shared the details of the process and its legal dimension with the public, made important assessments regarding the merger of the files, along with their previous application for a wealth investigation and recent developments.
“OUR AIM IS TO UNCOVER INVESTMENTS OBTAINED THROUGH ILLEGAL MEANS”
Lawyer Nadi Türkaslan, who clearly emphasized the purpose of the complaint they submitted to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 7, used the following statements: "Our aim is not to pursue where or for what purpose anyone has made investments; that does not concern us. Our aim is to uncover that those who, as of just yesterday, claimed to have no registered assets, obtained these investments through illegal means using municipal resources. For this purpose, we filed a complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on August 7. Due to our respect for the content of the investigation, we had not disclosed anything to anyone about that investigation until today."
“THE GÖKÇEKS ARE A STRUCTURE I CAN CALL A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION...”
Providing details about the claims and the diagram in the content of the petition of complaint, Türkaslan drew attention to the use of municipal resources: "The basis and foundation of our complaint was to reveal how former Mayor İbrahim Melih Gökçek, whom I can call the 'Gökçek Criminal Organization,' Nevin Gökçek, Osman Gökçek, Ahmet Gökçek, their relatives, municipal bureaucrats, and businessmen who were heavily involved in business and won tenders, used the municipality's money, assets, and real estate. In fact, in that file, we revealed with evidence that this organization even took ownership of a television channel to carry out its activities and broadcast through it, and that it even extended to sports clubs in line with the organization's aims."
THE APPLICATION HAS NOT YET RECEIVED AN INVESTIGATION NUMBER
Also evaluating the current legal status of the criminal complaint file, Türkaslan said the following, citing the possibility of a confidentiality and restriction order: "Since our complaint document has not yet received an investigation number, I cannot know the stage the document has reached or whether there is a restriction order in that investigation. Therefore, I do not find it appropriate at this stage to provide more information about the content of our application petition."
A PETITION WILL BE SUBMITTED TO MERGE THE THREE FILES
Türkaslan, who stated that they had previously requested an investigation into the assets of Melih Gökçek and his relatives on the grounds of unjust enrichment, argued that, along with the investigation initiated ex officio following journalist Murat Ağırel's broadcast, the three files should be conducted together: "We have another complaint before the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding İbrahim Melih Gökçek and his relatives, and the criminal organization, having unjustly enriched themselves, and therefore requesting an investigation into their assets. Therefore, I believe that the investigation initiated ex officio after Murat Ağırel's broadcast, and our two complaint documents, should be merged and the investigation should be conducted together for the integrity of the evidence. If necessary, I will apply with a petition to this effect."
THE COMPANY CLAIMS IN GERMANY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PETITION
Responding to a question about whether the claims regarding a company in Germany, brought to the agenda by Ağırel, were included in their own application dated August 7, Türkaslan stated that these details were not in their application. Türkaslan stated that their files contained general claims regarding the acquisition of assets and tenders. Noting that the files are interconnected, Türkaslan said, "For the integrity of the evidence and to see the full picture, it is inevitable that there is a necessity to conduct the investigation together. Undoubtedly. I already anticipate that all 3 investigations will be conducted together."
“WE HAVE NOT HAD A COMPLAINT THAT HAS COME BEFORE THE JUDICIARY”
Responding to a question about whether anyone has been convicted so far regarding the nearly 100 files concerning the Gökçek family, as previously stated by ABB President Mansur Yavaş, Türkaslan made the following statement: "As far as I know, no. That is, permission for investigation has been granted, and it is at the Council of State stage, but we have not yet had a complaint that has come before the judiciary."
