The Mardin Academy Community brought together Mardin-based academics at an iftar program held at the MAREV center. Speaking at the event, Community Coordinator Dr. Ekrem Teymur emphasized the importance of Mardin academics providing mentorship to young people and collaborating on projects that will add value to the city. Teymur highlighted that "touching a young person is sometimes just opening a door," stressing that even a small support given to a young person can have a transformative impact on their life.
Mardin Academy Community, gathered Mardin academics for an iftar dinner to strengthen academic solidarity. Academics from Mardin working in Istanbul attended the program held at the MAREV (Mardin Education and Solidarity Foundation) center.
Speaking at the iftar program, MAREV Board Member Dr. Dalin Midyat provided information to the participants about the foundation's history and activities.
MAREV President Attorney Şevket Çelik stated that MAREV has provided scholarships to 1,000 students this year and expressed that the number of scholarships will be increased in the upcoming period, sharing the message, "MAREV is a common value for all Mardinians; our activities that encompass everyone will continue to grow."
Mardin Academy Community Coordinator Dr. Ekrem Teymur also gave a speech. In his speech, Dr. Teymur thanked MAREV for hosting and highlighted the responsibility towards Mardin. Teymur emphasized that the works produced by Mardin academics should be strengthened under three main headings:
- Mentoring and paving the way (support networks for young people's education/career journeys),
- Knowledge and project production (concrete works addressing the needs of Mardin),
- Institutional continuity (transforming collaborations into a permanent structure).
At the end of his speech, Dr. Teymur stated, "Touching a young person is sometimes just opening a door. Even a short time that one of our teachers dedicates to a student can have a transformative impact on that young person's life," and said that the common goal of the community is to broaden the horizons of Mardin youth and create lasting collaborations that add value to Mardin.
After the speeches, participating academics took the floor to express their views and suggestions regarding the increase of unity, solidarity, and collaborative work culture. The community reiterated its goal of mentoring Mardin youth and producing projects that add value to the city through regular meetings and working topics in the upcoming period.
