TWO-PHASE OPERATION
The operation, coordinated by the Istanbul Public Order Branch Directorate, was carried out in two phases yesterday.
In the first phase, between 20:00-22:00, a stationary road checkpoint was conducted at 195 points with the participation of 1209 personnel. The operation was also supported by a police helicopter and 5 boats affiliated with the Marine Port Branch Directorate.
In the second phase, between 22:00-23:59, inspections were carried out at public places with the participation of 1104 personnel.
819 SUSPECTS DETAINED
Within the scope of the operation, General Information Collection (GIC) queries were conducted on 315,909 people. A total of 819 people, including 396 suspects sought for various crimes, were detained.
During the inspections, 18 unlicensed pistols, 4 rifles, 4 blank-firing pistols, 180 rounds of ammunition, 607 grams of narcotics, 618 narcotic pills, and 5,405 liras and 200 dollars considered to be obtained from drugs were seized.
HUNDREDS OF WORKPLACES ALSO INSPECTED
While teams inspected 519 public places, action was taken against 5 workplaces.
In traffic inspections, 41,292 vehicles and 2,040 motorcycles were checked, action was taken against 2,528 vehicles and motorcycles and 67 drivers, and 2 vehicles were banned from traffic.
During the inspections, administrative fines totaling 3,461,014 liras were imposed on drivers who did not comply with the rules.
