17 SUSPECTS BROUGHT TO THE COURTHOUSE IN THE MORNING
Within the scope of the investigation into Merkezefendi Municipality, 17 suspects taken into custody were brought to the courthouse at 7:30 a.m. The judicial procedures of the suspects continued until the night hours. Five of the suspects whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office were referred to the court with a request for arrest.
The court decided to arrest Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan, her husband Mehmet Ali Doğan, Deputy Mayor Hüdai Tirit, Director of Financial Services Yurdagül Okkacı, and businessperson Abdullah Hülagü. The 12 suspects were released under judicial control conditions.
GAVE A 40-PAGE STATEMENT, SENT OFF WITH APPLAUSE
Meanwhile, it was learned that Mayor Şeniz Doğan gave a 40-page statement at the prosecutor's office. It was observed that citizens waiting outside showed support with whistles as Mayor Doğan and the other detainees left the courthouse. Arrested Mayor Doğan was sent off to prison with applause by those who waited for hours in front of the courthouse.
