After the defeat in the Galatasaray derby, Fenerbahçe, which parted ways with İsmail Kartal, accelerated its search for a head coach. While it was stated that the yellow-and-navy management prioritized foreign coaches, it was claimed that Julian Nagelsmann was at the top of the list. It was stated that the management would discuss the situation of the candidates at the critical meeting expected to be held today.
Work is ongoing at Fenerbahçe to determine the new head coach. It has been claimed that President Aziz Yıldırım has given Cihan Kamer and Oğuz Çetin full authority regarding the search for a head coach.
It was stated that the yellow-navy management has turned its priority to foreign coaches and aims to reach an agreement with the new coach by the international break.
NAGELSMANN IS AT THE TOP OF THE LIST
According to the news in Sabah, Julian Nagelsmann is at the top of Fenerbahçe's head coach candidates. It was reported that the 39-year-old German coach left his role with the Germany national team last July and wants to continue his career in England. It was stated that Nagelsmann's desire to work in England complicates Fenerbahçe's transfer plans.
MONTELLA'S REQUEST FOR A 3-YEAR CONTRACT WAS AN OBSTACLE
There was also a noteworthy development regarding Vincenzo Montella, one of the names on Fenerbahçe's agenda. It was claimed that the Montella option was shelved because the Italian coach demanded a contract of at least 3 years. The fact that the yellow-navy club will hold a congress in June 2027 is cited among the factors making it difficult to sign long-term contracts with head coach candidates.
SERGIO CONCEIÇAO IS ALSO ON THE TABLE
It was stated that Portuguese coach Sergio Conceiçao is also among Fenerbahçe's head coach candidates. It was expressed that the name of Conceiçao, who most recently coached the Saudi Arabian representative Al-Ittihad, is also on the board's agenda.
CRITICAL MEETING TODAY
It was stated that at the meeting Fenerbahçe's management is expected to hold today, they will evaluate the candidates and the talks held. The yellow-navy team's goal is to enter the international break with its new head coach.
