The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, evaluated the inflation data for January through his official X account. In his statement, Minister Şimşek used the following expressions:
In January, the annual inflation decreased by 23 points compared to last year, falling to 42.1%.
With the policies we are implementing decisively, the annual inflation for basic goods is at 24%, the lowest level in the last 38 months. Service inflation, on the other hand, decreased by 27 points compared to last year, reaching 62.9%.
Monthly inflation increased due to seasonal effects. However, with the other steps of our program, along with the contributions of the managed and guided prices that we determined in line with the inflation target within the budgetary possibilities, the lowest January data in the last 4 years was achieved.
Our stance on fiscal policy, along with the balancing of demand and our supply-side measures, will continue to lead to a decrease in inflation.
