Journalist Murat Ağırel claimed that Melih Gökçek and his family purchased a building with 18 apartments through a company they established in Germany, made a shopping mall deal worth 8.5 million euros, and that millions of euros were transferred to the account from Turkey. Melih Gökçek, responding to Ağırel's accusations, who filmed the properties on site, categorically denied the claims, described them as "slander," and announced that he would initiate legal proceedings against Ağırel.
Journalist Murat Ağırel claimed that former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek and his family carried out real estate purchases and money transfers worth millions of euros in Germany through a shell company. Melih Gökçek did not delay in responding to Ağırel's allegations regarding an 18-apartment building in Düsseldorf and an 8.5 million euro shopping mall deal. Gökçek, who described the allegations as "slander," announced that he would take the matter to court.
Murat Ağırel made striking allegations about the commercial activities of former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek and his family in Germany during his program broadcast on Onlar TV. Stating that he went to Germany and filmed the properties in question on site, Ağırel drew attention to high-value money traffic in his allegations, which he based on company records, bank transactions, and sales contracts.
ALLEGATION OF TRANSFERS WORTH MILLIONS OF EUROS
According to the information put forward by Ağırel, Melih Gökçek's daughter-in-law Hülya Gökçek gave power of attorney to Filiz Polat İşler in 2022 for the purpose of establishing a company in Germany. It was alleged that, in line with this power of attorney, a company named "HAMAG" with a capital of 30,000 euros and based in Cologne was established. Ağırel, who claimed that despite the company having no employees or turnover, high amounts of money were transferred from Turkey, argued based on the documents he shared that in 2023, first 722,000 euros and then 3,857,000 euros were transferred to the company account. Ağırel questioned the source of this money, which he claimed was sent from Turkey.
ALLEGATIONS OF THE BUILDING AND SHOPPING MALL DEAL IN DÜSSELDORF
The real estate purchases and initiatives alleged to have been carried out through the HAMAG company came to the agenda with the following details:
- Allegation of an 18-apartment building: It was claimed that a building with 18 apartments in Düsseldorf was purchased for 3,857,000 euros through HAMAG. It was alleged that renovation expenses exceeding 500,000 euros were made for the property, which was planned to be turned into a dormitory, and the total cost reached 4.5 million euros.
- Allegation of an 8.5 million euro shopping mall contract: It was claimed that Hülya Gökçek and Ahmet Gökçek signed a contract worth 8.5 million euros on May 21, 2025, to purchase a shopping mall consisting of 5 shops and 18 apartments in the city of Velbert, near Düsseldorf. It was alleged that the purchase could not be completed, but 500,000 euros was paid due to termination and intermediary fees.
- Allegation of a shopping center in Luxembourg: Ağırel also claimed that the Gökçek family was conducting negotiations to purchase the Massen Shopping Center in Luxembourg, valued at 280 million euros.
MELİH GÖKÇEK: SEE YOU IN COURT
Following the allegations, former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek, who published a lengthy statement on his social media account, described the information put forward in Murat Ağırel's broadcast as "slander."
Accusing Ağırel of being supported by some lawyers and FETÖ-linked accounts, Gökçek used the following statements: "You received a prison sentence of four years and eight months for revealing the identities of our martyred MIT members. You lost all the allegations you previously made about my son Osman Gökçek in court. Now, you are the one being tried for the slander you have made. How many times did your 'big brothers,' who had you write books and provided you with this information, defraud ABB... If you acted relying on the legal power of Mansur Yavaş, then woe betide you! With God's permission, when you lose these allegations you have made in court, do not dare come and ask for forgiveness. I will hold you fully accountable for your slander before the law. See you in court..."
