Some posts on social media following the heart condition experienced by famous comedian Cem Yılmaz drew backlash. Cem Yılmaz's brother, Can Yılmaz, reacted strongly, noting that alongside get-well messages about his brother's health, expressions such as "I wish he had died," "Why did you save him?" and "Too bad he didn't die again" were also used.
"NO ONE IS OBLIGED TO LOVE CEM"
In his post, Can Yılmaz stated that they had received numerous well-wishing messages over the past two days and thanked those who sent them. However, he expressed that some messages surprised and saddened them.
Yılmaz said, "No one is obliged to love Cem," adding that his brother's work or ideas could be criticized, but wishing for his death pointed to a different matter altogether.
"IT'S NOT A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION, IT'S ABOUT HUMANITY"
Can Yılmaz used the following statements in his post:
"You might not like his work, you might disagree with his ideas, you might not like him at all. But wishing for a person's death is not a continuation of these. It belongs somewhere else."
Yılmaz emphasized that there is not just a difference of opinion between saying "I don't like you" and saying "I wish you had died," but that it is a much more serious distance from the perspective of humanity.

Can Yılmaz stated that the point that concerned him the most was that the people who wrote these messages do not see themselves as bad people in their daily lives.
Yılmaz expressed that these individuals have loved ones and people they care about, yet they see no harm in wishing for the death of someone they have never met, reacting with the words, "But they can wish for the death of someone they have never met."
