The ninth Bosphorus Film Festival organized by the Bosphorus Cultural and Art Foundation will see the attendance of Mexican director Carlos Reygadas.
The festival, which will be held on Oct. 23-30 with the contributions of the General Directorate of Cinema of the Culture and Tourism Ministry, TRT's Corporate Business Partnership and Anadolu Agency's Global Communication Partnership, will host famous and successful cinema professionals from around the world in Istanbul.
Reygadas will also be presented with the "Honorary Award" by the Bosphorus Cultural and Art Foundation Board of Directors and Festival President Ogun Sanlier on the closing night of the festival.
The Mexican director will share his experiences by meeting with movie lovers at the masterclass event to be held on Oct. 29 as part of the Bosphorus Film Lab.
The event, which will take place at the Atlas 1948 Cinema, will start at 6.30 p.m. (1530 GMT).
Reygadas, after studying law in Mexico and London, began making short films in 1998.
He won the "Caméra d'Or Award" at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002 with his first feature film Japón.
Battle in Heaven, which he completed in 2005, was named one of the best films of the decade by the British Film Institute.
At the Cannes Film Festival, where he made its world premiere with his movie Silent Light, he won the Jury Award and the Best Director Award with Post Tenebras Lux.
In 2018, Reygadas also competed for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival with his last film Our Time.
Bosphorus Film Lab, the industry department of the ninth Bosphorus Film Festival, will bring the current issues of the industry to the participants with the help of professionals.
As part of the Bosphorus Film Lab Talks, an event, titled How Did I Make My First Feature Film?, will be held on Oct. 25. Selcen Ergun, director of the film Snow and Bear, and its producer Nefes Polat will also attend the event.
