WHO IS TERRORIST MİHRAÇ URAL?
Born in Antakya in 1956, Mihraç Ural escaped from Turkey, where he was imprisoned for illegal organization activities, to Syria in 1982.
Through his wife Malak Fadel, who was related to the Assad family, Ural established close relations with Jamil al-Assad, the brother of then-President Hafez al-Assad. Thanks to the privileges he acquired, he became a wealthy person in Syria. He worked to ensure that the people of Hatay's Samandağ district and surrounding areas sympathized with the Syrian regime.
After the start of the Arab Spring and popular movements in Syria, in early 2012 Ural activated the organization “People's Front for the Liberation of the Sanjak of Alexandretta - Syrian Resistance,” which operated on a sectarian base.
In the same year, his son Bedrettin İbrahim Ural also began duty in the Syrian army with the rank of lieutenant.
Ural, who established dominance in Latakia's Kesab and Basit regions with militias loyal to him, was named in the massacre on May 3, 2013, in the Banyas and Bayda villages inhabited by Sunnis along Syria's coastline, where at least 150 people, mostly women and children, were killed.
Ural had also played a role in the bomb attacks in Hatay's Reyhanlı district on May 11, 2013, in which 52 citizens lost their lives. In the indictment of the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which investigated the incident, it was determined that terrorist Mihraç Ural planned the attack with the intelligence of the overthrown Assad regime.
Ural, the ringleader of the Syrian Resistance Organization, is among the founders of the THKP-C/Acilciler Organization, formed by those who broke away from the illegal People's Party Front of Turkey (THKP-C), founded in 1970. Ural was for many years one of the leading administrators of the Acilciler group.
