In an operation against automotive smuggling in Istanbul, 11 luxury vehicles valued at approximately 65 million lira were seized. During the operation, 14 suspects were detained, and it was noted that one of the confiscated vehicles belonged to Ferdi Gökçe, a social media celebrity who works in the car inspection business. The seized vehicles were displayed at the Vatan campus of the Istanbul Police Department.
The teams of the Istanbul Police Department's Smuggling Crimes Investigation Branch conducted an operation following the efforts aimed at vehicles purchased from abroad and brought to Turkey under tourist facilitation.
INTERPOL WAS LOOKING FOR THE VEHICLES
It was determined that the vehicles, which should have been exported back abroad within the legal period, were deliberately used in Turkey without the exit process being completed. Investigations revealed that some vehicles were transferred to third parties at low prices without registration procedures being carried out. It was found that some of the seized vehicles were purchased by taking loans from banks abroad, and a theft record was created against them due to non-payment of the loans, leading to them being sought by Interpol.
