Announcing the judicial outcome of forest fires occurring across Turkey, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek reported that 46 suspects have been identified and 12 people have been arrested. Stating that chief public prosecutor's offices are meticulously continuing their investigations, Gürlek emphasized that no act causing forest fires will go unpunished.

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced the judicial outcome regarding 73 forest fires that broke out in 25 provinces since June 1, 2026. Announcing that 12 people have been arrested as part of the meticulous investigations carried out, Minister Gürlek conveyed the message, "No act targeting our Green Homeland will go unanswered."

46 SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED, 12 ARRESTED

Sharing details of the judicial proceedings initiated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices regarding the forest fires, Minister Gürlek stated that 46 suspects have been identified so far in the investigations. Of the suspects referred to judicial authorities, 12 were arrested and sent to prison, while judicial control measures were imposed on 21 suspects.

Emphasizing that forests are the common trust of future generations, Gürlek used the following statements in his statement:

"Our Green Homeland; our forests are the common trust of our future generations. Judicial proceedings have been initiated regarding 73 forest fires that occurred in our 25 provinces since June 1, 2026.

In the investigations conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, 46 suspects have been identified; 12 suspects have been arrested, and judicial control measures have been imposed on 21 suspects.

Protecting our forests is protecting our future. With this understanding, our Chief Prosecutor's Offices continue to meticulously investigate the causes of the fires and those responsible.

Everyone who causes a forest fire intentionally, through negligence, or carelessness should know that; no act that targets our Green Homeland or harms our forests will go unanswered."
