Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that his country is facing a full-scale war in economic, military, and security domains against US sanctions threats, and called for solidarity and support from all segments of society.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, referring to US President Donald Trump's statements that they would impose the "most horrific sanctions" on Iran, stated that his country is facing a total war in economic, military, and security fields.
According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian spoke at the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the capital Tehran, on the first day of "Government Week."
Referring to Trump's statements about imposing the "most horrific sanctions" on Iran, Pezeshkian said, "We have stood firm and are striving to serve the people in the face of this unequal war. The enemy assessed that Iran would collapse and turn into Venezuela. However, Iran did not collapse; on the contrary, it grew stronger, and the world was astonished by this resistance, solidarity, and unity."
Pezeshkian stated that the economic war his country faces requires all segments of society to act together, as during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), and said, "We are doing everything we can and constantly thinking and finding ways to ensure more cooperation and synergy. However, in the face of the total economic war the enemy has launched against us, we must acknowledge that, as during the Holy Defense period, everyone needs to be on the field and help one another."
"WE REACHED A CONSENSUS OF EXPERTS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE AGREEMENT"
Pezeshkian noted that there were no serious problems in the markets during the war period and said that everyone must join hands to overcome the current crises.
Stating that the agreement Iran reached emerged after lengthy negotiations and as a result of a broad consensus of expertise, including military personnel who participated in the war, administrators who ensured the country's security, and officials responsible for implementation, Pezeshkian said the decision was made in line with the principles of "expediency, dignity, and wisdom."
Pezeshkian claimed that those who criticize the said decision do not know the details of the matter or were not involved in the process.
"THERE IS A NEED FOR SERVICE AROUND THE CLOCK"
Stating that Iran today needs people who will serve day and night, Pezeshkian said, "Iran does not need advice and recommendations, but people who will go out into the field and shoulder the country's burden."
Expressing that once a decision is made and an agreement is reached, everyone should stand behind that decision, Pezeshkian said, "If we do this, we will definitely win. However, if we make a decision and then violate it, instability will naturally arise."
Arguing that the enemy hopes to create division and cracks in society by using Iran's problems, Pezeshkian stated that as the government, they will work to prevent division, conflict, and personal interests.
Iranian President Pezeshkian said he cannot overcome the country's problems alone and requested support from all segments of society.
In the early years of the Iran-Iraq War, the dates are commemorated as "Government Week" because Iranian President Mohammad Ali Rajai and Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar were killed on August 30, 1981, in a bombing attack on the government building.
