Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the operation carried out against the Furkan Foundation. Gürlek stated, "In the operation against the structure known as 'Kuytulcular', judicial proceedings were initiated against 32 suspects for the crimes of establishing and managing a criminal organization, being a member of an organization, laundering assets derived from crime, qualified fraud, forgery of official documents, and violating the Tax Procedure Law. Trustees were appointed to manage 5 companies."
In a simultaneous operation organized in 6 provinces centered in Adana against the Furkan Foundation, many people, including the foundation's founding president Alparslan Kuytul and his wife Semra Kuytul, were detained.
TENSION AROUND HIS HOUSE
In the morning hours, an operation was carried out at Alparslan Kuytul's house located in the Reşatbey District of the Seyhan district of Adana. In the raid, where riot police and special operations teams took extensive security measures, Alparslan Kuytul and his wife Semra Kuytul were detained. During the detention process, a brief argument occurred between Kuytul supporters, who gathered around the house and chanted slogans, and police teams.
STATEMENT ABOUT "KUYTUL SUPPORTERS" FROM MINISTER GÜRLEK
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek shared important details regarding the investigation conducted under the coordination of the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Adana Provincial Police Department. Stating that the investigation targets the structure known publicly as "Kuytul supporters," Gürlek said that the structure's "activities considered to constitute crimes" and the incomes determined to have been obtained from these activities are being scrutinized.
SERIOUS CHARGES AGAINST 32 SUSPECTS
In light of complainant and witness statements, financial analyses, bank transactions, digital materials, and other evidence, legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 32 suspects. Minister Gürlek listed the charges against the suspects as follows:
- "establishing and managing a criminal organization"
- "membership in an organization"
- "laundering of property values derived from crime"
- "qualified fraud"
- "forgery of official documents"
- "violation of the Tax Procedure Law"
RAIDS IN 6 PROVINCES: TRUSTEES APPOINTED TO 5 COMPANIES
Announcing that simultaneous operations were carried out at a total of 49 addresses in 6 provinces centered in Adana within the scope of the extensive investigation, Gürlek also touched upon the economic and digital aspects of the process. Minister Gürlek reported that management trustees were appointed for 5 companies within the framework of the investigation, and noted that access to 349 social media accounts determined to be "conducting activities in favor of the organization" was blocked.
"NOT DIRECTED AT ANY RELIGIOUS GROUP"
Giving clear messages regarding the target of the operation, Gürlek emphasized that the investigation does not target freedom of belief or thought and used the following statements:
"I would especially like to emphasize that this investigation does not concern any religious group, belief, thought, or lawful activity; rather, it addresses the concrete criminal acts reflected in the file, victim and witness statements, allegations of organizational pressure, and financial evidence."
At the end of his statement, Gürlek thanked the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Adana Provincial Police Department, the Cyber Security Directorate, and all personnel on duty, and concluded his words by saying, "We will resolutely continue our fight against criminal organizations and the proceeds of crime."
