Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, regarding the suspicious death of Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found 18 days after she went missing in 2024, stated, 'We have set up a special team to examine Rojin's phone, there may be positive developments in the investigation.'
The investigation into the death of Rojin Kabaiş (21), whose lifeless body was found 18 days after she went missing while a student at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYU), continues.
"WE ESTABLISHED A LOCAL TEAM FOR ROJİN'S PHONE" Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, answering journalists' questions on the agenda before the AK Party TBMM Group Meeting, stated, "Rojin Kabaiş's mobile phone was previously sent abroad for its decryption. We have now established a local team. If we decrypt the mobile phone, we believe we will reach an important phase in the investigation."
GÜLİSTAN DOKU INVESTIGATION: THE PERSON WHO WILL SOLVE THE CASE IS UMUT ALTAŞ Responding also to a question regarding the Gülistan Doku investigation, Gürlek said, "We issued a red notice for Umut Altaş. We also conveyed the sensitivity of the matter to the US authorities due to its importance. Umut Altaş is, in my opinion, the person who will solve the case because he is the closest witness to the incident."
REGULATION FOR JUVENILE OFFENSES Referring to regulations on juvenile offenses, Minister Gürlek stated, "We will have a regulation in the 12th Judicial Package to increase the sentences for children. We discussed this matter with our Minister of Family and received their opinions and suggestions."
Nizamettin Kabaiş "ROJİN'S ROOMMATE BETRAYED US" Meanwhile, grieving father Nizamettin Kabaiş, a guest at the Haberler.com studio with News Editor Olgun Kızıltepe and presenter Melis Yaşar, said regarding Rojin's roommate, "She betrayed us." Nizamettin Kabaiş, who repeatedly expresses his belief that his daughter did not commit suicide, stated, "Four of them were staying in the room; two others hadn't arrived yet. She was the last one to talk to Rojin. She changed her statement four times. That girl knows something but is afraid to say it."

"THE UNIVERSITY RECTOR INTERVENED IN THE AUTOPSY" Father Kabaiş continued his remarks as follows:
"I don't suspect the students at all. But the rector at that university is very problematic. I am saying what I saw. He also intervened in the autopsy. He brought all his relatives, very close relatives, and placed them there in jobs. It is as if the university is not a state institution but his private property; whether it's the security guards or the workers there. He brought his relative and placed him there. The man says, 'I am a lord, I will live like a lord.' But what did the Justice Minister say? He said, 'No matter who it is, position and status do not matter. Whoever it is, they will be investigated and will face punishment.' Hopefully, with God's permission, this case will not remain in the dark. The Justice Minister made good statements.
