Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that 4.5 million packages were collected in 2 days through the Deposit Management System, and citizens earned 4.5 million TL.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum said, "Our nation loved DOY very much. We collected 4.5 million packages in just 2 days. So what does this mean? We earned 4.5 million TL for our citizens."
MINISTER KURUM'S STATEMENT ON "DOY"
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, who came to Adıyaman for various programs, attended the Adıyaman Central Housing Determination Draw Ceremony and the City Square opening within the scope of the 'Host Turkey' project. The program held at the TPAO Conference Hall was attended by Adıyaman Governor Abdullah Küçük, deputies, NGO presidents, and the local people.
Minister Murat Kurum stated in his speech that Adıyaman has risen again after the century's disaster, saying, "Adıyaman saw dark days. It experienced the disaster of the century. February 6 left deep marks on this city's stones, soil, bazaar, homes, and heart. But even in those days, we saw a people who held onto each other, ran to their neighbors, shared their bread, and carried their pain with dignity. This city did not diminish its humanity in the face of disaster. It bore its mourning, preserved its patience, and kept its hope alive. We know the place of the lives we lost cannot be filled. The ruined memories cannot return. But today, Adıyaman is rising from where it fell. Our Lord did not let us be ashamed before you. Under the leadership of our President, we completed 455 thousand homes in 11 provinces in 2 years. Our citizens entered their homes. Our tradesmen opened their shops. Our children filled the parks again. As someone who was here on February 6 and lived through those dark days with you, I thank God thousands of times for seeing these days."
"WE ARE REUNITING 20 THOUSAND CITIZENS WITH THEIR HOMES"
Minister Kurum explained that within the scope of the Century Housing Project, they are building 500 thousand social housing units in 81 provinces, and special treatment has been given to the 11 provinces affected by the earthquake, saying, "As you know, within the scope of the Century Housing Project, we are building 500 thousand social housing units in our 81 provinces. In this project, we said 'our 11 provinces will be privileged' and kept the quotas high. Remember, we drew the beneficiary lots here first, and we are also determining the location lots for our homes here with you for the first time. In Adıyaman center, İndere, 5 thousand 41 social housing units are finding their owners today. In our city, to which we have provided 43 thousand disaster housing units, we are now reuniting approximately 20 thousand of our citizens with solid homes through our social housing units. We say this in passing, but believe me, these are not just numbers. Inside these numbers, there are fathers being sent off to work in the morning. There are mothers preparing their children's school bags. There are children who will step into their new rooms for the first time. There are homes where shoes will be lined up at the door, tea will simmer in the kitchen, and evening lights will shine in the windows. May Allah grant them all the pleasure of living in them with joy, may their homes be cheerful."
"WE ARE IMPLEMENTING A 3.5 MILLION DOLLAR GRANT PROJECT"
Minister Kurum stated in his speech, "Now we are taking another important step. In collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme and the Kuwaiti Government, we are implementing a grant project worth approximately 3.5 million dollars in our city. Within the scope of this project, we will establish a non-hazardous waste recycling facility and a mobile crushing unit in our city, managing demolition waste in an environmentally friendly manner and reintroducing it into the economy for use in constructing new roads, infrastructure, and similar works. While doing all this and raising our 11 provinces, we never neglected our other work. We continued to experience disasters, and we did not leave our brothers and sisters there alone. We rebuilt our homes turned to ash in the fires in Ödemiş and our homes destroyed in the Sındırgı earthquake within a year. This summer, we will hand them over, God willing."
4.5 MILLION TL IN 2 DAYS WITH DOY
Minister Kurum also said, "We have not stopped for a moment to develop our country and respond to the needs of our citizens, and we will not stop. Our latest work on the deposit management system is a result of this understanding. Under the leadership of respected Emine Erdoğan, we are taking the Zero Waste movement to a new stage with the Deposit Management System. We collect waste in machines and recycle it. You have seen our DOY machines, right? Now you put the bottles we use at home not into the trash but into the machines, and you earn 1 lira for each bottle. Then we collect those bottles, recycle them, and reintroduce them into the economy. This practice started in our Adıyaman, in our 81 provinces, and we saw that our nation loved DOY very much. We collected 4.5 million packages in just 2 days. So what does this mean? We earned 4.5 million TL for our citizens. The number of those registered in the system has exceeded 1 million. When the entire system is established, we aim to collect 25 billion packages annually and provide 30 billion TL in profit to our economy. So with DOY, you will win, our economy will win, our environment will win, and Turkey will win."
After his speech, the beneficiary determination and City Square opening were carried out in the presence of a notary.
