The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, announced that applications for the İŞKUR Youth Program will start in one week. Işıkhan, who came to the Parliament as part of the "on-duty minister" application, answered questions from AA reporters.
In response to a question about the details of the İŞKUR Youth Program, Işıkhan stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has given good news to students studying at public universities, and that the services offered by İŞKUR to young people have been combined under a single platform with the İŞKUR Youth Program.
THEY WILL RECEIVE BASIC TRAINING RELATED TO WORK LIFE
Explaining that they will contribute to young people gaining experience during their university years, Işıkhan said, "We will partially support their pocket money. We will provide lessons to prepare young people better when they enter the labor market. We will offer basic courses such as interview techniques, CV preparation, job search motivation, public relations, and financial literacy during this training period." Minister Işıkhan emphasized that "lack of experience" is one of the biggest barriers to young people's participation in working life, stating, "With the İŞKUR Youth Program, we are removing this barrier. While our students are studying at university, they will also be able to work in universities and in their desired fields."
THEY WILL BE ABLE TO WORK A MAXIMUM OF 3 DAYS A WEEK
Emphasizing that young people can benefit from the program through the İŞKUR Youth Platform or the İŞKUR Mobile Application, Işıkhan said, "Each university's own students will be able to work a maximum of 3 days a week. We will pay 1083 lira daily to the young people participating in the program. If students participate in the program for 5 days a month, we will provide approximately 5,415 lira, and if they work for 14 days, we will provide approximately 15,162 lira in income support. During the program, we will pay the short-term insurance premiums for our students as the employer. Our young people can access all the details of the program at 'genclik.iskur.gov.tr'." Işıkhan wished the program to be beneficial for young people and stated that the quotas could be increased according to the demands of the youth. Minister Işıkhan noted that students with a household income below 3 minimum wages can apply for the İŞKUR Youth Program, stating, "Our young people will also be able to apply for the program in one week." Işıkhan emphasized that they will provide an important opportunity for young people with the program and noted that the rectors have shown great interest in the program.
IT WILL PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE AND INCOME SUPPORT TO STUDENTS
The İŞKUR Youth Program has been implemented as a part-time active labor program that provides theoretical and practical training to university students in cooperation with public universities to support public services. Active students enrolled in associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at public universities will benefit from the program, which will provide work experience and income support.
SUPPORT WILL BE PROVIDED IN MANY AREAS
The program can be applied in areas such as supporting sustainable campus activities like afforestation, recycling, energy efficiency, supporting campus infrastructure and maintenance activities, supporting social and cultural activities, academic and administrative support activities, supporting community service and collaboration activities, supporting student development and adaptation activities, supporting digital transformation and innovation activities, and supporting entrepreneurship ecosystem activities.
There is no obstacle for participants to be insured in another job during the program. President Erdoğan stated in his announcement yesterday that it is planned for 200,000 university students to benefit from the program this year, and a total of 1 million university students over the next 4 years.
