The Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, regarding the housing built in the area of the Kanal Istanbul project, stated, "The draws have been made, and every single citizen in the area is a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. As they have said, no housing has been sold to Arabs or citizens of any other country. This project has no connection or relation to Kanal Istanbul whatsoever."
The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, answered questions from the press before the AK Party group meeting. Kurum spoke about the Kanal Istanbul project and the housing developments in the area where the project is located.
"KANAL ISTANBUL IS NOT ON OUR AGENDA"
In response to a question about Kanal Istanbul, Minister Kurum stated, "There is currently no topic regarding Kanal Istanbul on our agenda. We have previously stated that there is none. Creating a polemic over Kanal Istanbul and trying to divert the issue to other areas will be met with indifference by our nation."
"NOT SOLD TO ARABS"
In response to the question, "What is the connection of the housing developments in the area of the Kanal Istanbul project?", Murat Kurum said: "There is no connection at all. Those houses are part of a project we promised during election rallies to ensure that our citizens without homes become homeowners. The draws were held, and every citizen who received a house is a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. In other words, no houses have been sold to Arabs or citizens of any other country, as they claim. All of the buyers are our fellow citizens from the lower-income group who do not own homes. Therefore, we will continue to keep our promises in this context. Currently, 44,000 houses are under construction in Istanbul. In Arnavutköy, the construction of 28,000 houses is also progressing quickly and rapidly. God willing, we will deliver them to the rightful owners as soon as possible, and this project has no connection whatsoever to Kanal Istanbul. The attempts to create a polemic over Kanal Istanbul and divert the issue to other areas will also be met with indifference by our nation."
