Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated, 'Rojin is a young girl whose future, hopes, and dreams have been cut short in the prime of her life. As the state, we will pursue this matter to the end. We are trying to do whatever is necessary.'
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said, "Rojin was a young girl of ours in the prime of her life, whose futures, hopes, and dreams were left unfinished. As a state, we will pursue this matter to the end. We are trying to do whatever falls upon us."
GÜRLEK RECEIVED ROJİN'S FAMILY AT THE MINISTRY
According to a statement from the Ministry, Gürlek met with the father of university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose body was found on the shores of Lake Van on October 15, 2024, Nizamettin Kabaiş, her mother Aygül Kabaiş, and the family's lawyers at the Ministry.
Speaking there, Gürlek stated that the Department for Investigation of Unsolved Crimes had been activated to resolve Rojin Kabaiş's death.
Emphasizing that all employees in the Department are experienced and experts in criminal law, Gürlek explained, "We look at the files from a different perspective, especially staying in contact with our prosecutor, the families, and the lawyer. If there is new evidence or if a special team needs to be formed, we consider a narrowed base for this case as well. We do not have investigative authority, but we technically support the authority conducting the investigation there. We make our families feel that the state is interested in this incident and that it must be pursued to the end."
"ROJİN'S PHONE WILL BE EXAMINED"
Minister Gürlek, who listened to the views of the family and lawyers regarding the investigation, noted that the state is working with all means to solve the incident.
Gürlek stated that the narrowed base study requested by the family and lawyers would be considered within technical possibilities.
Gürlek, who mentioned that Rojin Kabaiş's phone, sent to Spain, would also be sent to China, listened to the requests of the family and lawyers.
"WE WILL GO TO THE END OF THIS MATTER"
Stressing that all evidence would be re-examined and narrowed base records would be requested, Akın Gürlek continued as follows:
"Rojin was a young girl of ours in the prime of her life, whose futures, hopes, and dreams were left unfinished. As a state, we will pursue this matter to the end. We are trying to do whatever falls upon us. That is also the purpose of this unit's establishment: to go to the end, especially in murders that have remained unsolved. The incident is not entirely clear. Is it murder or suicide? We need to solve this. That is already our subject. The prosecutor's office needs to determine this. Suicide or murder. As a family, you think it is murder. Of course, all aspects must be investigated down to the finest detail in this matter."
"WE TRUST OUR STATE AND JUSTICE"
Father Nizamettin Kabaiş thanked Minister Gürlek for his interest and support, saying, "We always trust our state and justice. We are very hopeful."
At the end of the meeting, Gürlek stated that the points highlighted by the family and lawyers would be meticulously examined by the relevant department.
Deputy Minister of Justice Can Tuncay, General Director of Criminal Affairs at the Ministry of Justice Hazım Aslancı, and Deputy General Director of Criminal Affairs Ömer Demirci also attended the meeting.
