Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç signaled changes in the penal execution system. Regarding the changes in the penal execution system announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Tunç stated, "Those who receive sentences of less than 2 years will also go to prison." He expressed that the good behavior discount in the public opinion has also caused discomfort, saying, "We are re-evaluating good behavior and supervised release. The good behavior discount will not apply to every crime."

THE PENAL EXECUTION SYSTEM WILL CHANGE

"Our criminal justice system consists of investigation, prosecution, and execution. Our criminal justice system needs to be deterrent. We have preparations regarding the Judicial Reform Strategy Document. There has been work on the Judicial Reform Strategy Document for 1.5 years. We have received opinions from scientists. We have received opinions from our citizens. So far, 45,000 opinions have come in. We have evaluated these in long meetings and workshops. We will have some regulations for the perception of impunity. Especially regarding crimes under 2 years, the lack of imprisonment for these crimes causes discomfort in the public. Those who receive sentences of less than 2 years will also go to prison."

GOOD BEHAVIOR DISCOUNT

"We are re-evaluating good behavior and supervised release. The good behavior discount will not apply to every crime. We are working on alternative solutions regarding this. New types of crimes may also be added to catalog crimes."

NEW JUDICIAL PACKAGE

"It is on the agenda of our Parliament. It is at the General Assembly stage. We have provided contributions to them in the draft studies. The package includes some issues regarding combating crime and criminals to prevent delays aimed at speeding up the judiciary. The judicial proposal regarding the 10th Judicial Package will soon be presented to the committee."

"The investigation is continuing meticulously. There are currently detainees. There are suspects under judicial control. There have been identified camera recordings. Evaluations were made at TÜBİTAK. The statements of nearly 250 people have been taken. Retrospective HTS records have been examined. Very important data has been reached through narrowed base overlap. The technical studies have reached the final stage. The process of preparing the indictment has begun. When the indictment is revealed, they will see who the murderers of Narin are."
