Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, has approved the "Turkey Century Education Model" which has gone through the approval process of the Board of Education. The curriculum, which can be accessed through the official website of the Ministry, will be implemented gradually starting from the next academic year, beginning with preschool, 1st grade of primary school, 5th grade of middle school, and 9th grade of high school.
The Ministry of National Education had shared with the public the new curriculum draft that has been worked on for a long time. After the Board of Education, the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, also approved the new curriculum.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION
According to the written statement made by the Ministry of National Education, the teaching program of 9 courses by the General Directorate of Secondary Education within the scope of "Turkey Century Education Model", the teaching program of 10 courses by the General Directorate of Primary Education, the teaching program of 7 courses by the General Directorate of Religious Education were presented to the public for their opinions and suggestions on April 26th. During this period, 67,284 opinions and suggestions were submitted to the draft that remained suspended until May 10th.
THE NEW CURRICULUM WAS SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR APPROVAL
After the necessary classification and evaluations were made by the relevant commissions for reflecting the opinions and suggestions received for the "Turkey Century Education Model" to the teaching programs, the new curriculum was submitted to the approval of the Board of Education. While 38,865 opinions and suggestions were received from teachers for the curriculum draft, civil society organizations, education platforms, and other stakeholders who wanted to contribute to the curriculum draft expressed 28,419 opinions.
ONE THIRD OF THE RECEIVED OPINIONS ARE RELATED TO THE COMMON TEXT
58% of the opinions and suggestions for the curriculum came from teachers, while 42% came from other stakeholders. One third of the received opinions were related to the common text, and one sixth were related to the preschool education program. All opinions and suggestions received regarding the new curriculum draft were evaluated by the Board of Education Presidency. Opinions and suggestions were shared with the commissions of the Board of Education Presidency and the relevant directorates every day during the suspension process.
THE REVISED CURRICULUM WAS APPROVED
The 67,284 opinions and suggestions received from education stakeholders were classified one by one. In this context, some general corrections were made in the teaching programs. Opinions and suggestions were evaluated in accordance with the principles of transparency, scientificity, and inclusiveness, and reflected in the teaching programs. The new curriculum, which includes 26 courses related to the "Turkey Century Education Model", was discussed and reviewed in the Board of Education agenda on May 16-22. The revised curriculum was approved by the Board of Education.
