Regarding the developments in the Strait of Hormuz, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated, 'We had a total of 15 ships in the Strait of Hormuz; we have withdrawn 3 of them. There is no request for the withdrawal of 4 out of the remaining 12 ships.'

As the US threat of a "naval blockade" against Iran continues, a statement has been made regarding the fate of Turkish vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

12 TURKISH VESSELS IN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, "We had a total of 15 vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. We removed 3 of them. 4 of the remaining 12 vessels have no request to leave. We are carrying out the exit request for our remaining 8 vessels in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and we hope to remove them in the coming days, God willing."

"IRANIAN OIL TANKER PASSED THROUGH HORMUZ DURING THE BLOCKADE"

On the other hand; according to the semi-official Fars News Agency, an Iranian tanker also passed through the Strait of Hormuz with its positioning system on during the US "naval blockade" and reached Iranian territorial waters. The report stated that the oil tanker in question has a capacity to carry 2 million barrels of crude oil and reached its destination "without encountering the slightest obstacle."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

US President Donald Trump, following the failure of the negotiation process with Iran held in Pakistan, claimed in a statement on social media on April 12 that they would initiate a naval blockade process against Iran. Accordingly, the US asserted that it would not allow any vessel to move from open waters towards the Iranian coastline or to anchor in Iranian territorial waters and ports.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced yesterday that the US blockade of Iranian ports is accompanied by more than 10,000 troops as well as dozens of warships and fighter jets.
