The Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who attended the 8th Ordinary Congress of the AK Party Selçuklu Organization, met with party members.
Speaking here, Minister Yerlikaya stated that the number of Syrians wishing to return to their country has increased with the change of administration in Syria, saying, "Everyone saw that Turkey's greatness is not limited to its borders. Turkey is the guarantee of peace and brotherhood. Turkey is the embodiment of justice and compassion. Throughout history, we have stood against the oppressor and by the side of the oppressed. We have opened our arms to those fleeing oppression. Yesterday and today, we act with the understanding of the brotherhood of the helpers and the migrants."
"DIGNIFIED RETURNS HAVE STARTED TO INCREASE"
Yerlikaya also stated, "Opening our arms to our brothers fleeing the claws of wars, destruction, and oppression was a necessity of our history and civilization. Now, helping Syrians who wish to return to their homeland is also a requirement of our brotherhood. After Syria gains its freedom, 'voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly returns' have started to increase."
"124,325 SYRIANS HAVE RETURNED HOME"
Minister Yerlikaya said, "By December 9 of this year, 124,325 of our Syrian brothers have returned to their homeland voluntarily, safely, with dignity, and in an orderly manner. In 2024, the average for voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly returns was 11,000. The number of Syrians returning to their homeland has also increased after Syria gains its freedom. Our fundamental guide in migration management is human rights and freedoms. We adhere to our civilizational values and always prioritize public order and security. The key to peace lies in public order. The more we increase our preventive power, the more we can reduce the number of incidents. This is what we focused on; crime prevention. We increased our personnel numbers and our vehicle numbers. Thus, our team numbers increased both day and night. As a result, in the first 11 months of this year, we reduced the number of incidents of crimes against individuals by 28,446. We raised our clearance rate to 98%," he said.
