Minister Yerlikaya described the heroism of TUSAŞ martyr Atakan Şahin: Despite being injured, he never gave up for a moment.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared all the details regarding the terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) with the press. Minister Yerlikaya stated that the claims of some employees being taken hostage during the terrorist attack were not true.

Sharing all the curiosities related to the terrorist attack, Minister Yerlikaya referred to the martyr security officer Atakan Şahin as 'Hero'. Minister Yerlikaya mentioned that despite being injured, Şahin fought against the terrorists until he was martyred and that he wounded the female terrorist, causing her to detonate herself. Minister Yerlikaya used the following statements:

ATAKAN ŞAHİN FIRES DESPITE BEING INJURED

"At 15:26, the hijacked taxi arrives at the TUSAŞ gate. Two scoundrels, one female and one male, get out of the vehicle. They open fire on innocent people. We have friends and brothers who were martyred right there. Our hero Atakan Şahin, despite being injured, also becomes a martyr. Despite his injury, he fires at the enemy and wounds the female terrorist. Four minutes after 15:26, seeing that she was injured, the female terrorist detonates herself. We know from previous attacks of this nature that she has a significant amount of plastic explosives on her body."

MINISTRY SHARED OPERATION PROCESS

On October 23, during the bomb attack on the TUSAŞ central campus, 5 people were martyred, and 22 citizens were injured. In the operation carried out by 730 personnel formed from Gendarmerie and Police teams, 2 terrorists were neutralized.

The Ministry of Interior shared the details of the operation process conducted regarding the bomb attack on the TUSAŞ central campus. The information shared by the ministry is as follows:

15:26 - The terrorists arrive at the TUSAŞ campus by taxi and carry out the first attack.

15:30 - The female terrorist detonates herself after being fired upon by Private Security Officer Atakan Şahin.

15:40 - Two armored vehicles and 10 personnel intervene at the scene under the command of the gendarmerie.

15:52 - The Police Special Operations Team breaks the turnstiles at the entrance of the TUSAŞ academy building with an armored vehicle and enters.

16:09 - The Police Special Operations Team begins to arrive in the area by helicopter.

16:13 - The evacuation of TUSAŞ personnel at the entrance of the building begins by the Police Special Operations Team.

16:20 - The 'Dragon 120' Team from the Ankara Gendarmerie Commando Battalion joins the intervening Police Special Operations officers and enters through the back door of the building.

16:24 - The 1st JOPER Team from the Gendarmerie Special Search and Rescue Command lands at the TUSAŞ facility with an S-70 General Purpose Helicopter.

16:40 - During the intervention by the Police Special Operations teams, the male terrorist in the second floor of the TUSAŞ academy building detonates himself. 5 Police Special Operations personnel are injured.

17:15 - A search is conducted in the building, and TUSAŞ personnel are evacuated from the building.

17:30 - The area is completely secured, and the crime scene investigation units begin their examinations."

It was stated that a total of 730 personnel participated in the operation, including 479 personnel from the Gendarmerie General Command and 251 personnel from the General Directorate of Security.
