The Ministry of Interior announced that the number of Syrians who have returned to their country since 2016 is 1 million 407 thousand 568.
The Ministry of Interior announced regarding Syrians returning to their country: "The number of Syrians who have voluntarily, safely, honorably, and regularly returned from our country since 2016 is 1 million 407 thousand 568."
The Ministry of Interior made a written statement on its official social media account regarding claims in some media outlets about the numbers of voluntary returns of Syrians. The statement emphasized that comparing data from different periods is misleading.
NEARLY 1.5 MILLION SYRIANS HAVE RETURNED TO THEIR COUNTRY
The Ministry's statement is as follows: In some news articles in the media, it is observed that evaluations have been made suggesting that official data and statements regarding voluntary return numbers to Syria are inconsistent with each other.
The data shared by our Minister of Interior, Mr. Mustafa Çiftçi, covers the total number of voluntary returns carried out since 2016. In this context, the number of Syrians who have voluntarily, safely, honorably, and regularly returned from our country since 2016 is 1 million 407 thousand 568.
According to the current data of the Presidency of Migration Management, the number of Syrians under temporary protection status in our country is 2 million 280 thousand 542, and the number of Syrians who have voluntarily returned after December 8, 2024, has been recorded as 667 thousand 565.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) data, it is estimated that a total of 1 million 630 thousand 874 Syrians have returned to their country across the region since December 8, 2024.
TURKEY FIRST IN RETURNS
When looking at the distribution of returns by country, Turkey ranks first with 639 thousand 995 people. These shared data are obtained through the analysis of border crossings, population movement reports, and different data sources together.
Reporting data from different dates as if they were from the same period by comparing them is an unrealistic and misleading approach."
