The toll of the mass irregular migration attempt towards Sebta, Spain's territory in North Africa, continues to rise. With the discovery of 5 more lifeless bodies on the coast, the death toll has reached 72. While security measures in the region have been increased, it drew attention that some detained migrants escaped by jumping from a military vehicle.

DEATH TOLL RISES TO 72
Spanish authorities reported that the lifeless bodies of 5 more people were found in coastal areas, bringing the number of deaths in the incident to 72.
Miguel Angel Perez, the Spanish government's delegate in Ceuta, said in a press conference that more than a thousand people have been receiving treatment since Thursday. Stating that the situation in the city has improved significantly, Perez said there is still much to be done to return to normal.
Ceuta Mayor Juan Jesus Vivas stated that Moroccan authorities continue to recover lifeless bodies from the sea, but there is still no official total death toll figure regarding the events.
SPANISH ARMY ON CITY STREETS
Meanwhile, it was reported that security forces are carrying out checks on city streets to ensure that irregular migrants who have entered Ceuta since July 30 have returned.
It was also noted that there was not much activity at the Tarajal Border Crossing, but it was reported that a group of 10 people attempted to cross the border by swimming in the morning hours but were stopped by Spanish soldiers.
THEY JUMPED FROM MILITARY VEHICLES AND FLED
However, Moroccan migrants being taken to a detention center by soldiers jumped from the military vehicle they were loaded onto while it was moving and disappeared. Those moments were also captured on the mobile phone cameras of those nearby.
