While JASAT detectives were solving the mystery behind the death of 4-year-old Y.E.Y., who died in the hospital in Afyonkarahisar last January after allegedly falling from a height, it was revealed that the child was the victim of murder. Another horrifying detail in the incident was that the child's mother got married to her son's killer just 3 days after her son was murdered.

A murder suspicion has become clear in the investigation into the death of 4-year-old Yunus Emre Yakar, who was reportedly brought to the hospital after a fall from a height in Afyonkarahisar and lost his life.

BROUGHT TO HOSPITAL ALLEGEDLY AFTER FALLING FROM A HEIGHT

The incident occurred on January 24, 2026, in the town of Işıklar, affiliated with the central district. Yunus Emre Yakar, a 4-year-old child, was brought to Afyon Health Sciences University Hospital unconscious by his mother Z.K. and grandfather M.K., on the grounds that he had fallen from a height. The young child, found to have a brain hemorrhage, was transferred to Kütahya City Hospital after an intervention there. However, Yunus Emre Yakar could not be saved despite the intervention and lost his life.

JASAT DETAINED 5 PEOPLE INCLUDING THE MOTHER

Following the incident, the gendarmerie teams that launched an investigation examined the scene where the child was alleged to have fallen and then took statements from family members. After the examinations, the investigation was taken over by the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT), the detectives of the gendarmerie. Examining the file in detail, JASAT detectives, based on the contradictory statements of family members and the autopsy report, detained the mother Z.K., stepfather B.K., grandfather M.K., grandmother A.K., and one other family member.

GRANDFATHER CONFESSED TO THE INCIDENT

The family members, referred to the courthouse by JASAT detectives, confessed that B.K. killed the young child. In his statement, grandfather M.K. said that on the day the young child died, he went to the field with his son, the stepfather B.K., to graze sheep, but after a while, B.K. brought Yunus Emre Yakar in his arms and handed him over, saying, 'I hit him a couple of times, he fainted. Take a look at him.' Upon this, he said they took the young child with his daughter-in-law Z.K. to the hospital, and later the child died.

STEPFATHER ARRESTED FOR KILLING THE CHILD

Among the suspects brought before the court after the prosecutor's questioning, the stepfather B.K. was arrested on charges of 'intentional homicide', and the grandfather M.K. was arrested for evidence tampering, while the mother Z.K. and grandmother A.K. were released with judicial control and a travel ban abroad. The other detained family member was released after giving his statement. The arrested B.K. denied the incident by not explaining how he committed the murder.

HE WAS ALSO BEATEN BEFORE HE DIED

According to information obtained from neighborhood residents about the arrested stepfather B.K., who did not accept the charges in court, it was claimed that he constantly beat the young child before his death for wetting his bed or making noise, on the grounds that he was a stepchild.

MOTHER MARRied HER SON'S KILLER 3 DAYS LATER

Another piece of information obtained from relatives of the family members revealed the extent of this callousness. It emerged that B.K. had a formal wedding ceremony with the child's mother Z.K. just 3 days after the incident. It was reported that mother Z.K. concealed the incident due to pressure from her husband and his family.
