The remains of Ebru Koyuncu, identified as the victim of a 17-year-old murder that came to light during inheritance proceedings in Manisa, were laid to rest amid tears in her hometown of Sancaklıiğdecik neighborhood, Şehzadeler district, Manisa, after the completion of procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institute. It is alleged that Koyuncu became pregnant from an affair with her sister's husband at the time and was strangled to death by her brother-in-law. The sister and brother-in-law have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The body of Ebru Koyuncu, who was believed to have been killed 17 years ago and discovered through a missing person report filed during inheritance proceedings in Manisa, was handed over to her family years later and laid to rest in Sancaklıiğdecik Mahallesi, Şehzadeler district, Manisa.

TRUTH REVEALED THROUGH MISSING PERSON REPORT

The case of Ebru Koyuncu, who went missing in 2009 at the age of 17, resurfaced during inheritance proceedings following her father's death. A woman named Münevver Koyuncu (60), residing in Sancaklıiğdecik Mahallesi, applied to the gendarmerie on October 1, 2025, around 21:00, reporting that her daughter Ebru Koyuncu left home in December 2009 and had not been heard from for 17 years.

ALLEGATION: "BROTHER-IN-LAW STRANGLED HER WITH A ROPE"

After notifying the public prosecutor, an investigation was launched into the incident. During the investigation, it was determined that Ebru Koyuncu worked for Ufuk Köse, who was identified as the husband of her sister Fatma Köse at the time. According to allegations, a relationship between the two resulted in Ebru Koyuncu becoming pregnant. Following an argument, the suspect is claimed to have strangled the young girl with a rope. Upon confirming the murder suspicion, teams conducted an excavation in Armutlu 85. Yıl Cumhuriyet Mahallesi, Kemalpaşa district, İzmir. During the excavation in the garden attributed to Ufuk Köse at the time of the incident, a skull and bone fragments believed to belong to the victim were found. The bones were sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for examination.

BURIED 17 YEARS LATER

After the examination of the bone fragments, which were recovered in February, at the Forensic Medicine Institute, they were identified as belonging to Ebru Koyuncu. Ebru Koyuncu's body was handed over to her family today.

A funeral ceremony was held for Ebru Koyuncu, who had been listed as missing for approximately 17 years, in her hometown of Sancaklıiğdecik Mahallesi. During the ceremony attended by relatives and local residents, Koyuncu's body was laid to rest in the village cemetery following the funeral prayer. Emotional moments occurred during the ceremony, as family members experienced the pain and sorrow of burying their child after so many years.

Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, Ebru Koyuncu's sister Fatma Köse and former brother-in-law Ufuk Köse, who were taken into custody, were arrested by the court.
