In the case regarding the armed murder of Dilan Aslan in Diyarbakır, the statement given by the couple's daughter under the supervision of a psychologist drew attention. The little girl stated that she heard her father threatening her mother with death, saying, "I will kill you, I will put on my gloves, I will leave no trace, I will bury you in the basement."
In the case regarding the death of Dilan Aslan (37) by gunshot in Diyarbakır, the trial of her husband Abdulvahap Aslan (53) has begun. While Aslan claims that his wife committed suicide, the couple's daughter stated in her testimony, given in the presence of a psychologist, that her father told her mother, 'I will kill you, I will wear my gloves, I will leave no trace, I will bury you in the basement.' The court decided to continue the defendant's detention and postponed the hearing.
The incident occurred on March 31, 2025, in the Mevlana Halit neighborhood of the Bağlar district during the night. Upon receiving a report of a suicide, the teams that went to the address determined that Dilan Aslan had died from a gunshot wound. An examination revealed that a gun and a spent cartridge were found next to the victim. It was established that after the incident, Abdulvahap Aslan called his cousin M. A., saying, "My wife shot herself in the head, come quickly," and that M. A. called his brother, who lived nearby, asking him to go home. Abdulvahap Aslan, who left his 5-year-old child at home, went to the police station to surrender about 2 hours later. Following the investigation into the suspicious death, Aslan was arrested as a murder suspect.
REQUEST FOR AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment regarding the incident and filed a lawsuit. The indictment noted that due to her husband's behavior, Dilan Aslan moved to Diyarbakır with her children on December 26, 2024, and settled in her nephew E. A.'s house. According to the information in the file, Abdulvahap Aslan also came to the city from Istanbul after his wife, and although the family elders intervened and the parties reconciled, it was stated that they frequently argued during their meetings. The indictment also mentioned that the defendant threatened his wife by saying, "I will kill you, I will tell my relatives it's an honor killing," and that they visited the victim's mother on the first day of the holiday and returned home around 11:00 PM with their son S. It was stated in the indictment that during a dispute at home, the defendant shot his wife with his own gun.
"I HEARD A GUNSHOT" In the first hearing held at the Diyarbakır 1st Heavy Criminal Court, the detained defendant Abdulvahap Aslan, along with his children A. A., E. A., R. A., and S. A., as well as the lawyers of both parties and the representative lawyer of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, attended. E. A., the nephew of Dilan Aslan, who stayed in Diyarbakır, was heard as a witness. In his defense, Abdulvahap Aslan claimed that his wife committed suicide, stating, "I thought my marriage would not work. A video of my wife appeared on social media that I watched. I couldn't see her face in the video, but I was sure it was her from her back and voice. I said let the family members gather, let's get a divorce. When this issue was being discussed and she answered me, I slapped her. While going to the bathroom, I heard a loud noise. This gun belongs to me, but it is in my wife's custody. When I heard the sound, I went inside and saw my wife lying on the ground shot. I didn't know what to do. I called a relative because I didn't know the address very well. I asked that person to call an ambulance. Then I went to the police station and surrendered," he said.
"SHE HID THE BRUISES WITH MAKEUP" The couple's son R., who was heard with the presence of a psychologist, claimed that his mother had been subjected to violence for a long time, saying, "My mother was a woman with shining eyes. She tried to hide the bruises with makeup. Once she told me, 'Your father is accusing me falsely. There is a gun under our pillow. He takes it out at night and hits me on the back and leg with the handle of the gun.' When my brother asked, 'Why are you hitting her?' while she was being beaten, he would say, 'I will kill you too,'" he stated.
"I WILL KILL YOUR MOTHER AND YOU" The couple's daughter A. also claimed that her father threatened both her and her mother, saying, "My father threatened me too. He said, 'I will kill your mother and I will kill you too.' He locked me in a room for hours and beat me. He pressured me by saying, 'The person in the video is your mother, you will confess this.' He even offered me money for this. I also saw my father pointing a gun at my mother. He would put the gun in her mouth and say, 'You will talk to these men.' We were also being tracked with a program he installed on the phone. He would take my mother's phone and put it on the table. He would say, 'Look, I can access your mother's camera even when her phone is off.' He had this program made for 150,000 TL by a friend and was paying 7,000 TL every month. My father had a leather glove," she said.
"I WILL WEAR GLOVES AND KILL YOU" Their daughter E., in her statement given in the presence of a psychologist, said, "I did not experience physical violence; my sister generally faced it. I was calming my little brother. While talking in between, I heard him say, 'I will kill you, I will wear my gloves, I will leave no trace, I will bury you in the basement.' My mother used her right hand. Also, one day, because I was sick and could not go to school, he beat my mother. I even recorded the sound," she said.
"SHE CAME TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE SHE WAS SUBJECTED TO VIOLENCE" E. A., who was heard as a witness, stated that Dilan Aslan came to Diyarbakır with her children because she was subjected to violence, saying, "When she came, her right eye was bruised, and there were bruises all over her body. She said that Abdulvahap beat her with a belt and the handle of a gun, pulled her hair, and threatened to kill her by putting the gun in her mouth. Dilan and her 4 children stayed at my house for about 3 months. In the meetings I personally witnessed, Abdulvahap called and threatened Dilan over the phone from Istanbul, and I have recordings of these. The woman in the video she mentioned had blonde hair; Dilan only had a black and yellow stripe in her hair when they got engaged. The woman in the video is completely blonde, and we can understand that it is not her just from the hair color. Because only her hair is visible, her face is not visible. It is a video shot from behind. I am absolutely sure it is not her. Abdulvahap took a screenshot of the woman in the video and showed it to me, saying, 'This woman is not your aunt.' I said, 'There is no chance she could be my aunt,'" he said.
THEY DID NOT REPORT TO 112 FOR 1 HOUR Selahattin Çoban, one of the victim's family lawyers, stated that Abdulvahap Aslan's relative M. A., who was informed after the incident, and his brother V. A. and wife S. A. did not report to the 112 Emergency Call Center for 1 hour, and requested that they be heard as witnesses in court.
After the break, the court announced its decision, continuing the detention of the defendant Abdulvahap Aslan.
A. and S. A. were ordered to be forcibly brought, and a request was made to the Diyarbakır Governorship for a letter to be sent to the 112 Emergency Call Center to determine the content of the report and the individuals involved.
HEARING ADJOURNED The court, upon the request of Lawyer Selahattin Çoban, decided to send a letter to the relevant expertise department of the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution to prepare a report on whether suicide is possible based on the manner of use of the weapon and the reports in the file, and whether the act could have been carried out by another person, and adjourned the hearing to June 8 at 1:30 PM.
