Security measures have been raised to the highest level in Ankara, which will host the NATO Summit on July 7-8. The Ankara Governorship has completely banned unauthorized vehicles and individuals from entering sensitive areas, particularly the transit routes and accommodation zones of the delegations. As part of the security measures, all events such as rallies, protests, sit-ins, and press statements across the city have been suspended for 13 days, from June 28 to July 10, 2026.

Ankara Governorship announced that extraordinary security measures have been taken before the NATO summit to be held in the capital on July 7-8. During the summit, unauthorized access to sensitive areas will be completely prevented, and all types of protests and events across the city have been banned for 13 days.

LOCK ON ENTRY AND EXIT TO SENSITIVE AREAS

In the official statement from the Ankara Governorship, it was stated that the aim is to preemptively prevent any risks that could jeopardize the summit's security. With the decision made, entry of unauthorized persons and vehicles to all designated critical points, especially the areas where the NATO summit will be held, hotels where foreign delegations will stay, and the routes delegations will use, has been strictly prohibited.

13-DAY PROTEST BAN IN THE CAPITAL

The most striking aspect of the security measures was the broad ban on events. The Governorship suspended all activities planned within the capital's borders, both in open and closed areas, such as gatherings, protest marches, rallies, press releases, sit-ins, protests, and hunger strikes. Additionally, activities such as setting up stands, pitching tents, distributing flyers, declarations, or brochures, and hanging posters or banners across the city have also been included in the ban.

BAN DATES CLARIFIED

All mentioned bans and restrictions will be implemented uninterruptedly for a total of 13 days, starting on June 28, 2026, at 00:00 and ending on July 10, 2026, at 23:59.
