Necat Cellek, a member of the AK Party who had served as the mayor of Siirt's Şirvan district since 2004, passed away in Istanbul where he was receiving treatment. Having started his political career in 1994 and being elected as the district's mayor for five consecutive terms—a record difficult to break—Cellek, a father of ten, had been battling health issues for some time.

Necat Cellek (60), a member of the AK Party who had been serving as the mayor of Siirt's Şirvan district continuously since 2004, passed away in Istanbul, where he had been receiving treatment for health issues for some time. The death of Cellek, who had held the mayoral office for 22 years, caused great sorrow among his relatives and in the political world.

HIS POLITICAL CAREER BEGAN IN 1994

Born in 1966 in the Şirvan district of Siirt, Necat Cellek completed his primary education in his birthplace, and his middle and high school education in central Siirt. He took his first step into politics in 1994 as a Provincial General Council Member, and later served as the Chairman of the Virtue Party's Şirvan District Branch between 1999 and 2000.

ELECTED FOR 5 CONSECUTIVE TERMS

Winning the trust of the people of Şirvan and leaving a mark on the district, Necat Cellek achieved a historic success by being elected as the Mayor of Şirvan for 5 consecutive terms in the 2004, 2009, 2014, 2019, and finally 2024 local elections under the AK Party. The 60-year-old mayor, whose death plunged the district into mourning, was married and had 10 children.
