Actress Nesrin Cavadzade, who was criticized for the emojis she left on a post about the headscarf debates in Azerbaijan, reacted to the insults directed at her and announced that she would initiate legal proceedings.
While the issue of headscarf-wearing students not being allowed into classes in some schools in Azerbaijan remains on the agenda, actress Nesrin Cavadzade also joined the debate with a comment on social media. Cavadzade, who supported a statement regarding Azerbaijan’s national identity and values with fire, Azerbaijani flag, and red heart emojis, responded days later to the criticism directed at her.
“NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO QUESTION ME”
The Baku-born actress stated in her statement following the reactions to her post that she does not accept questioning of her Turkishness, her Muslim identity, and her respect for beliefs.
Cavadzade argued that thoughts that were not hers were attributed to her because she liked a post, and reacted to insults that exceeded the limits of criticism and attacks on her personal rights.
SHE ANNOUNCED THAT SHE WOULD INITIATE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS
Stating that evidence had been identified regarding posts that constitute insult and violation of personal rights, the actress explained that she had handed the matter over to her lawyers in its legal and criminal dimensions. Cavadzade stated that she would hold those responsible accountable before the Turkish judiciary.
The actress concluded her statement by stating that she would not submit to efforts to discredit her through her identity, faith, and values.
