As the expert examination in the billion-euro money-laundering investigation into the Sarıgül family was completed, it was alleged that in audio recordings entered into the case file, New Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül used the following statements about Ekrem İmamoğlu: 'No one would do the treachery he did to us.'
Within the scope of the "money laundering of assets derived from crime" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 15 people, including journalist Murat Ağırel, Mustafa Sarıgül's ex-wife Aylin Kotil and his son Ömer Sarıgül, were arrested. Two people were released under judicial control conditions within the scope of the investigation.
HARSH REACTION FROM MUSTAFA SARIGÜL
New Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül expressed his reaction in a post on his social media account after the arrests. Sarıgül stated that they would continue their legal fight to reveal the innocence of his family members and friends. Sarıgül included the following statements in his post: "The honor, dignity and freedom of every citizen of the Republic of Turkey are entrusted to the state. I would have expected the justice system to protect its citizens against those who use the judiciary as a tool for their personal malice and enmity. The documents put forward by the persons making the accusations are forged to such an extent that they would not even require any investigation proceeding to be opened. We will resolutely continue our legal fight to reveal the innocence and righteousness of my family members and friends. Without losing our faith in the law, we will continue to trust the judiciary."
HOW DID THE PROCESS REACH THIS POINT?
According to the allegations in the investigation file, German businesspeople Kai Precat and Marc Baeriswyl carried the judicial process to a global dimension following a threat and a crisis worth millions of euros. Kai Precat filed an official criminal complaint with the Spanish National Police in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, on October 6, 2026. Simultaneously, lawyer Frank Häberer, one of the representatives of the German company, applied to the Berlin, Landshut and Munich I public prosecutor's offices in Germany and to the Austrian and Swiss judicial authorities, requesting that an investigation be opened into Turkey-based money flows.

According to the news story signed by Atakan Irmak in Sabah, the audio recording, which is alleged to have entered the investigation file and to have been analyzed by an expert report, included dialogues between New Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül and Sinan Çampınar, the representative of the German businesspeople.
