As part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Veyis Ateş and Taner Çağlı were recently arrested. Taner Çağlı made some controversial confessions about Mehmet Akif Ersoy, whom he praised as a "good family child" on his program. Çağlı stated, "I saw Mehmet Akif in bed with two women. They jumped into my bed in the morning."
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the examination continues regarding the charges of 'purchasing drugs or stimulants for use', 'accepting or possessing', and 'using drugs or stimulants, providing a place and means for their use' in the case where Mehmet Akif Ersoy was previously arrested.
Former Habertürk General Manager Veyis Ateş, influencer Taner Çağlı, and Mustafa Karataş were detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command Narcotic Crimes Combat Branch on December 27, 2025, for providing special places, equipment, or materials to facilitate the use of drugs or stimulants, and for taking measures to make it difficult for users to be caught. While Veyis Ateş and Taner Çağlı were arrested, Mustafa Karataş was released with a request for judicial control.

The statement of social media influencer Taner Çağlı has emerged. Çağlı stated that he spent the summer on his company's yacht, saying, "I met Mehmet Akif Ersoy a few years ago for a YouTube video. He later wanted to be a guest on the yacht with two girlfriends, and I accepted. I stay on the yacht with my 9-year-old daughter during the summers. On the first day, they drank a lot of alcohol and whiskey. I saw Mehmet Akif in bed with two women. Then I got angry and went to sleep. Later, when I woke up, the two girls came to me, and both jumped into my bed. I scolded them. I told them they should be polite. Since they were my guests, I couldn't do much. Later in the morning, I scolded them again and told them to leave the yacht. I thought the girls were under the influence of alcohol. I told them to leave the yacht. It was just me and the captain on the yacht. I think they were upset with me because I had a bit of a fight with the girls," he said.

Stating that he makes publications against drugs and that he is a teacher, Çağlı said, "I am very sorry for hosting such a person. About 1.5–2 years ago, the two people Akif brought to my yacht are B. and D. I just valued them and welcomed them. I do not accept D.'s statements. They may be misremembering because they drank too much. When they came and jumped into my bed, I kicked them out of my bed, and the next day I kicked them off the yacht," denying the allegations.
