The 9 suspects, who were arrested for 3 days within the scope of the investigation into the shipwreck that occurred off the coast of Girne in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), were brought back to the Girne District Court today.
DETENTION PERIODS EXTENDED
Company director A.Ö., ship's first captain M.Ö., second captain M.N.S., first engineer Z.Ö., second engineer M.G., and crew members S.E., Q.Q., V.H., and R.İ. were charged with 'causing death through negligence and carelessness'. The court decided that the suspects should remain in custody for an additional 8 days for the continuation of the investigation.
DEATH TOLL RISES TO 9, 19 PEOPLE STILL MISSING
In the accident caused by the capsizing of the ship that set out from Girne, TRNC, towards Mersin's Taşucu Port, 9 people lost their lives, and 19 people are being searched for as missing.
