In the investigation conducted into the traffic accident in which Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Dündar Ziya Gültekin lost his life, an arrest warrant was issued for his official chauffeur, Muharrem Kiremitçi. Kiremitçi, who is stated to have worked at Üsküdar Municipality for about 8 years, was sent to Çilimli Prison in Düzce after his procedures.
HAD AN ACCIDENT ON THE ANKARA ROAD
The accident occurred on October 15 at the Sarıçökek location in the Kaynaşlı district, on the Düzce section of the Anatolian Highway.
The car with license plate 34 VR 2034, driven by Muharrem Kiremitçi and carrying Dündar Ziya Gültekin, who was traveling to Ankara to attend the Union of Municipalities of Turkey elections, collided with the car with license plate 16 ARZ 453 traveling in the same direction.
People, including Gültekin, were injured in the accident. Gültekin, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved despite the doctors' intervention.
“CAUSING DEATH BY NEGLIGENCE” CHARGE
Within the scope of the investigation launched after the accident, Gültekin's official chauffeur, Muharrem Kiremitçi, was arrested. Kiremitçi was accused of “causing death by negligence.”
The judicial process against Kiremitçi, who was sent to prison after the arrest decision, is ongoing. Investigations into how the accident occurred and the responsibilities continue.
