The former General Director of the Turkish Red Crescent, Kerem Kınık's daughter, Zehra Kınık, was involved in an accident that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki after hitting him with a motorcycle. In this case, the father, Serdal Barlasçeki, has withdrawn his complaint against Kınık. However, the complaint from Batın Barlasçeki's mother is still ongoing.
Former Kızılay President Kerem Kınık's daughter Fatıma Zehra Kınık Demir crashed into a motorcycle driven by Yavuz Selim Öztürk in Beykoz Kavacık last July. In the incident, 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki, who was sitting on the back of the motorcycle, fell and hit his head on concrete barriers, resulting in his death. Both Öztürk, who was driving the motorcycle, and two people struck by the motorcycle, which continued to slide on the sidewalk, were also injured.
ZEHRA KINIK RECEIVED 4 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS IN PRISON
In the ruling made on May 26 at the Anadolu 8th High Criminal Court, the court panel sentenced Fatma Zehra Kınık to 4 years and 2 months in prison for the crime of 'causing the death of one person and the injury of another by negligence.'
The panel, considering the defendant's violation of the obligation of care and attention required by traffic regulations and the fault situation within the scope of the crime of negligent homicide, also decided to revoke the driver's license for a period of 2 years. The panel sentenced the complainant defendant Yavuz Selim Öztürk to 1 year, 1 month, and 10 days in prison for the crime of 'causing the death of one person by negligence,' and decided to postpone the announcement of the verdict.
FATHER WITHDREW HIS COMPLAINT
In a petition submitted to the Anadolu 8th High Criminal Court, where the case was concluded, father Serdal Barlasçeki stated that he was no longer complaining about Fatma Zehra Kınık.
In his petition, the father stated, "I withdraw my complaint against the defendant Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir. I have no claims for any material or moral compensation against the defendant. I will not appeal to the court of appeals, and I declare that I waive this right."
The complaint of Batın Barlasçeki's mother, who lost her life in the accident, is still ongoing.
