SHE LOST HER MONTH-LONG BATTLE FOR LIFE A new decision has been made in the investigation into the death of 28-year-old Gamze Yıldız, who, according to allegations, collapsed after being administered a serum at a private medical center in Ümraniye despite being known to have allergies, and lost her month-long battle for life in the hospital. The operations of the medical center, where the young woman's family protested with banners, have been suspended and closed.
Following claims that there was no on-duty doctor at the health center she visited with flu complaints and that the intervention was performed by an unauthorized technician, the Ministry of Health and judicial authorities launched an investigation. After inspections, it was decided to close the private medical center at the center of the allegations.
"WE FEEL A BITTERSWEET JOY, IT HAS EASED OUR HEARTS A LITTLE" Gamze's mother, Suna Doğantekin, describing the process, said, "We protested for 19 days. At the end of our protest, inspectors came yesterday. Today, the closure decision was made. They were allowed until 6:00 PM. It was closed around 6:00 PM. We feel a bittersweet joy. But it has eased our hearts a little. Of course, the legal process will continue now. We still have a long way to go. We will do our best to ensure they receive the harshest punishment in the upcoming process. And thanks to you and everyone who supported us, we will not stop. We will not stop until they receive the harshest punishment. We will not stop with just this closure. We are currently waiting for the forensic medicine results. Progress will be made based on the forensic medicine results. I cannot say anything until the medical results come. Many complaints were filed via CİMER. A woman came yesterday; her daughter experienced something similar. Thank God her child didn't die. She filed complaints in many places. She said she could give an interview. There are many such people. There are still people writing complaints in the comments. I am sure the Ministry of Health and Provincial Health have investigated this. That's why they decided to close it."
"THE CLOSURE WAS THE FIRST STEP FOR US, THANK GOD IT HAPPENED" Gamze's aunt, Burcu Doğantekin, said, "We will do everything we can to ensure they receive the harshest punishment in the upcoming process. Our journey is long. We expect people's support. The closure was the first step for us. Thank God it happened. We thank everyone who supported us. We have an Instagram page called 'Justice for Gamze Yıldız'. People can follow it. We shared all the processes there. They can see all the news there."
"THEY THREATENED US WITH A GUN BEFORE THE PROTEST STARTED" Aunt Burcu Doğantekin, addressing the threats and provocations they faced during and before the protest process, said, "Before our protest started, a gentleman showed his gun to my sister when she went there. He said, 'I am a police officer, I will shoot you, get out of here.' There was no direct threat during the protest. They came for so-called condolences. There was even a woman. She smiled and tried to provoke us by saying, 'No one killed anyone here.' We told them to leave, but they didn't. We said don't come again, but they came three or four times. It wasn't direct like 'Get out of here,' but they tried to provoke us. We don't know what happened to the person who threatened us with a gun. My sister actually believed he was a police officer. When we told the police, they said such a thing wouldn't happen, that a police officer wouldn't do such a thing."
The judicial and administrative investigation launched into the incident continues from multiple angles.
