In the donation irregularity investigation against the Ahbap Association, 14 suspects including Haluk Levent have been arrested. The prosecutor's referral document in the investigation included new findings. The document stated that the Ahbap Association does not legally qualify as a public benefit association, and concrete determinations were made that the association's properties were disposed of.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau for the Investigation of Financing of Terrorism and Money Laundering Crimes against the Ahbap Association, 14 people, including Haluk Levent, were arrested.
11 PEOPLE RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
25 suspects detained within the scope of the investigation against the Ahbap Association were referred to the courthouse. Of the 25 suspects, 19 were referred to the duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest, and 6 with a request for judicial control. Haluk Levent, Ece Güner, İlker Çetin, Nurdan Eriş, Yusuf Can Ertit, Kemal Ötünç, Şehmuz Baştuğ, Abdulcevat Özkan, Emrah Gödeliner, Erhan Dökmeci, Halil Bostancı, Mehmet Ulu, Yeliz Kaya, and Zafer Yay, who were referred with an arrest request, were arrested. 11 people were released under judicial control.
REFERRAL DOCUMENT REVEALED: DOES NOT HAVE THE QUALIFICATION OF AN ASSOCIATION
Meanwhile; In the investigation conducted regarding the claim that "donations collected in the name of the Ahbap Association were transferred to the accounts of the suspects", the referral document prepared by the prosecutor's office with a request for arrest included new findings. The prosecutor's office stated in the referral document that the Ahbap Association, founded by suspect Haluk Levent, does not legally have the qualification of an association working for the public benefit.
"COORDINATION REGARDING THE USE OF COLLECTED FUNDS IS WITH HALUK LEVENT"
It was stated in the document that, especially after the earthquake disaster in 2023, material aid was provided to the association with deep humanitarian feelings, and the collected fund reached a serious volume amounting to billions, and the coordination and organization regarding the use of these collected aids in accordance with their purpose were generally carried out by suspect Haluk Levent.
"AIDS WERE NOT MANAGED IN A TRANSPARENT AND AUDITABLE MANNER"
It was emphasized in the document that there were indications strongly suggesting that these aids were not managed or spent in a transparent and auditable manner after 2023, and these suspicions and evidence were strengthened by both the suspect's personal weaknesses and economic situation and the findings in the MASAK report.
"THERE ARE CONCRETE FINDINGS THAT REAL ESTATES WERE DISPOSED OF"
It was stated in the document that within the scope of the deepened investigation, concrete findings were made that the equity of the Ahbap Association was reduced and its real estates were disposed of, and it was noted that the MASAK investigation and evidence collection processes regarding the determination of the amounts donated to the association and the amounts spent from the association's budget continue in a multifaceted manner.
It was noted in the document that there are facts indicating the existence of strong suspicion that the suspects committed the crimes attributed to them, as well as grounds for arrest.
