ALIMONY DURATION WILL HAVE LOWER AND UPPER LIMITS
According to information obtained by Haberler.com, there will be a lower and upper limit for the alimony duration. It will be stated that it cannot be below a certain number of years, but for the upper limit, the judge will be given discretion to determine the duration based on the conditions of the aggrieved party in the divorce.
TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS WILL EXIST FOR CURRENT ALIMONY PAYMENTS
The upcoming legal regulation will include a temporary article taking current alimony payments into account. There will be transitional provisions stating that alimony payments will continue for a certain period, such as 2 years, after the law is enacted. Those who have been receiving alimony until now will not be able to continue receiving indefinite alimony.
ALIMONY DURATION WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE PROPORTION OF MARRIED YEARS
In calculating the alimony duration, the judge will be given discretion based on the age, health, and income status of the aggrieved party. It will be stated that the alimony duration will be a specific proportion of the years married.
"LUMP SUM PAYMENT" FORMULA FOR SHORT MARRIAGES
For particularly short marriages, the "lump sum alimony payment" formula is also among the options. Accordingly, an alimony amount determined in relation to the duration of the marriage will be paid in a single lump sum to the other party. There will be no alimony payment extending over years for a short marriage.
