Details of the government's improvement to pension payments aimed at increasing retirees' purchasing power have begun to emerge. In the improvement, age, number of premium payment days, and premiums paid will be taken into consideration. Retirees over the age of 65, with a high number of premium days, and those who pay high premiums will benefit more from the gradual increase.
Millions of retirees have turned their eyes to the increase to be made in their pensions in 2027. The government is evaluating various options for the improvement to be made to retirement pensions. Within this scope, impact analyses have been conducted regarding the step to be taken, and work is ongoing on which criteria the increase will be determined by.
THE FORMULA STANDING OUT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT In Ankara, primarily in the economy and related ministries, details of the work being carried out regarding the improvement to be made in the pensions of retirees, who have shouldered the heavy burden of inflation for years, in order to increase their purchasing power, have begun to become clear.
Three main criteria stand out in the improvement. These are listed as age, the number of premium days and the premiums paid. Accordingly, retirees over the age of 65, those with a high number of premium days and those paying high premiums, will benefit more from the gradual increase. The pensions of retirees who are further away from these criteria will increase gradually by less.

After the decision is made, it will become law and enter into practice."
EXPECTED INCREASE RATES BEFORE THE ADDITIONAL INCREASE Economist Prof. Dr. Hakkı Hakan Yılmaz said that if the Consumer Price Index (CPI) comes in at 1.5 percent in November and December, civil servants and retired civil servants will receive a 9.5 percent increase, and SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees will receive an 11.6 percent increase in the first half of the new year.
Recalling that the total inflation of the last four months was 8.29 percent, Yılmaz said, "SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees have earned an increase at this rate. For civil servants and retired civil servants, a 1.20 percent inflation difference has emerged. This group has also earned a 6.27 percent increase together with the 5 percent collective agreement raise."
