With the "Apple Upgrade" program, expected to be launched by Apple on July 28, users will be able to access iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch models with monthly installments. Under the program, a 24-month payment plan will be offered for iPhone and Apple Watch, and a 36-month payment plan for Mac and iPad. At the end of the term, users can choose to purchase the device, return it, or exchange it for a new model.
Apple is preparing to implement a new financing model that closely concerns iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch users. According to Bloomberg, the program called "Apple Upgrade" is expected to be launched on July 28.
DEVICE OWNERSHIP POSSIBLE WITH MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS
Under the new system, users will pay the cost of their chosen Apple device in equal monthly installments. The program will apply a 24-month payment plan for iPhone and Apple Watch models, and a 36-month plan for Mac and iPad models.
Users who make regular payments will be able to choose one of three options at the end of the term: purchase the device, return it to Apple, or exchange it for a new model.
SOME MODELS WILL BE EXCLUDED
The Apple Upgrade program will not include the Apple Watch SE, iPhone 16, entry-level iPad, MacBook Neo, and iPhone 17e models. Additionally, purchases made through corporate and educational channels will be excluded from the program.
APPLECARE WILL NOT BE MANDATORY
Unlike the current iPhone Upgrade Program, AppleCare protection plan will not be mandatory in the new system. The financing infrastructure of the program will be carried out in collaboration with Klarna, known for its "buy now, pay later" model. According to Bloomberg, although Apple previously planned to develop a fully in-house hardware subscription system, it abandoned this project and chose to work with Klarna.
The company aims to reach a wider user base with lower monthly payments for high-priced devices through the new program.
