The Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder is continuing treatment in intensive care. Önder, who is connected to a circulatory support device, remains in critical condition.
WHAT IS HIS CURRENT CONDITION?
Prof. Dr. Çavlan, who made a statement in front of the hospital, said, "Today, his general condition is better than yesterday. We believe he has responded very well to our treatment. The good contraction of the left side of the heart is promising. Our intensive care process continues, and a long process awaits us. The patient's response to painful stimuli is very good. He can hear sounds and respond to them. These are extremely positive for us, but we cannot concretely assess the patient's condition. Infection is the thing we fear the most. We are administering protective treatments. We are giving strong antibiotics. Urine output is continuing well. In summary, our intensive care process continues, and we need time. We need time. My prediction for the patient is between 10 to 40 days. He remains in critical condition. Our risk with this patient is high."
STATEMENT FROM THE HOSPITAL
In a statement from Florence Nightingale Hospital, it was expressed that Önder is responding well to treatment.
The hospital's statement included the following information:
"Mr. Sırrı Süreyya Önder is generally responding well to our treatments. His systemic and metabolic parameters are improving. The acidosis has resolved, and urine output is normal. We will perform hemofiltration today just to protect his kidneys."
INTENSIVE CARE PROCESS CONTINUES
He has spontaneous respiration. He has a response to painful stimuli. Blood pressure and circulation are more normal compared to yesterday. The peripheral circulation of the legs is good. Under ECMO, Noradrenaline, and Dobutamine, the average is 110/66 mmHg. The contraction of the left ventricle is very good; the contraction of the right ventricle is still not good, contracting very little. An EEG has been placed and will remain for 24 hours. The process is long; we will wait. The intensive care process continues."
HE RESPONDED TO HIS DAUGHTER
Prof. Dr. Ertan Sağbaş, who participated in Önder's surgery, informed DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan. Sağbaş said, "There is improvement in one of the parameters related to circulation, and the bleeding seems to have stopped. There is a situation where he tries to breathe on his own. He responded when his daughter entered the room. These are good signs, but the issue of not contracting on the right side of his heart continues. The machine that takes over the body functions is performing the duties of the heart and lungs."
HE WILL BE SEDATED FOR 5 DAYS
Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who visited the hospital yesterday, said, "They have extended the sedation period to 5 days, as stated. It is our common wish for him to recover as soon as possible." Kılıçdaroğlu noted that Önder's values are being continuously monitored and that the hospital is making every effort. He stated, "The doctors expressed that the proximity of his home to here is a significant advantage, that he arrived here quickly, and that having two qualified professors related to this matter in the hospital is a great advantage."
FOOTAGE BEFORE THE HEART ATTACK EMERGED
It has been revealed that Sırrı Süreyya Önder went to a restaurant in Beyoğlu alone before suffering a heart attack. It was seen that Önder, who was eating here, later left the restaurant. Security camera footage shows Önder entering the restaurant and eating.
HE COLLAPSED AFTER RETURNING HOME
He was seen to be cheerful but tired when he entered. It was learned that Önder, who chatted with the staff and took photos, stayed in the restaurant for about half an hour. Shortly after returning home, he was reported to have collapsed.
THE SURGERY LASTED 12 HOURS
Önder's brother, Ali Fuat Önder, stated that Sırrı Süreyya Önder's heart stopped twice while he was in the ambulance and during the surgery.
After the first intervention, a tear was detected in the aorta, and Önder was urgently taken into surgery. The operation, which started at 23:35 the previous night, lasted approximately 12 hours.
HE WAS TAKEN TO INTENSIVE CARE
Önder was taken to intensive care after the surgery. In the first statement from the hospital, it was stated that Önder was connected to a heart circulatory support device.
HE RECEIVED HEART MASSAGE FOR 10 MINUTES
In the hospital's statement, it was explained that Önder received 10 minutes of heart and lung massage in the emergency room, and a tear was detected in the aorta.
"Subsequently, at 23:05, there was a rhythm disturbance, and pulse and circulation stopped," the statement said, adding, "Our patient was urgently taken to the operating room, and the operation started at 23:35."
BYPASS WAS PERFORMED, AORTIC VALVE WAS REPLACED
The hospital's statement indicated that a bypass procedure was performed on the right coronary artery of Önder's heart, and the aortic valve was replaced.
The statement continued:
"However, due to such a large dissection and involving the right coronary artery that supplies the heart, despite all the surgical processes being successful, the right side of the heart is not contracting well, while the left side is contracting well.
After the nearly 12-hour surgery, our patient Mr. Önder was taken to our intensive care unit with ECMO (heart circulatory support device). His life-threatening condition still continues."
