The new bill to be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly by the AK Party this week aims to expand social rights for the relatives of martyrs and veterans. With the regulation, it is planned to increase the monthly allowance for the relatives of martyrs to the level of two minimum wages.
The AK Party is preparing to submit two separate bills to the Parliament Presidency, one covering social rights for relatives of martyrs and veterans, and the other related to the humanitarian aid system.
REQUESTED BY THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE
According to a report by Türkiye Gazette, the 14-article proposal, prepared upon the request of the Ministry of National Defense, aims to expand the social rights of disabled veterans and relatives of martyrs under the Anti-Terrorism Law.
MARTYRS' RELATIVE PENSION TO BE INCREASED
Within the scope of the proposal, amendments will be made to the Law on Cash Compensation and Pension Provision. With the regulation, the right to free travel and certain practices in tax legislation will also be rearranged in line with the principle of "positive discrimination."
Currently at 11,858 lira, the pension for martyrs' relatives is planned to be raised to the level of two minimum wages. Under the new system, a salary equivalent to two minimum wages will be provided per family. Payments will also be made to the martyr's mother and father separately, totaling two minimum wages.
NEW IDENTITY REGULATION FOR MARTYRS' CHILDREN
The proposal also includes a new practice for martyrs' children. Accordingly, the current "martyr's child" identities of those who turn 25 will be converted into "honorary martyr's child" identities.
It is aimed that most of the rights provided with the new identity card will continue after the age of 25. It is stated that free transportation and travel rights, in particular, will be preserved.
