After the snowfall that took place in January, snow is coming to Istanbul again. Meteorology experts have issued warnings with specific dates. The snow is expected to be effective in Marmara and Anatolia, including Istanbul, on Sunday night and Monday. With the new snowfall coinciding with the end of the mid-term break, schools may be closed again.
Temperatures will remain high until the severe cold expected across the country next week. Heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of the country.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) issued a yellow code warning for heavy rainfall and storms for Adana, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Burdur, Çanakkale, Giresun, Hatay, Mersin, İzmir, Kastamonu, Muğla, Ordu, Samsun, Sinop, Tokat, and Trabzon.
RAIN IS COMING FROM THRACE
Dr. Güven Özdemir, a meteorology expert, stated regarding the weather in Istanbul, "There will be rainfall transitions today and tomorrow. Rain masses are coming from Thrace."
Özdemir, who drew attention to Thursday, said, "On Thursday, southern winds will blow. So, there is a high probability of strong south winds. The temperature will again be around 15 degrees."
NEW SNOWFALL IS COMING TO ISTANBUL
Özdemir noted that rain will spread across the country starting from Friday, stating, "There will also be rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. Towards the end of Sunday, especially in the inner regions of the country, snowfall will be observed. Especially on Monday next week, mixed rain is expected in Istanbul, excluding the Aegean Region and Thrace," he said.
In evaluations regarding February, Dr. Özdemir pointed out the influence of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). "We received a cold close to the season. In other words, we started to feel the winter season in January," said Özdemir, adding that February will generally be within seasonal norms.
SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED AFTER FEBRUARY 14-15
Özdemir stated that there is no strong snowfall probability in the first weeks of February, saying, "There is a possibility of a snowy system forming towards the middle of February. From February 14-15 until the end of the month, we have a high probability of snowfall. I see this probability as over 50%." He emphasized that this system could also affect Istanbul.
ORHAN ŞEN: SNOW IS COMING AGAIN
Meteorology expert Orhan Şen also stated on his social media account, "Snow is coming again." Şen said, "The systems will start coming from the north over the weekend, significantly lowering temperatures. Snow may be seen in Marmara and Anatolia, including Istanbul, on Sunday night and Monday," he stated.
It is reported that schools may be closed again due to the new snowfall coinciding with the end of the mid-term break.
